This role will help us move faster and smarter, working on a number of tactical and strategic projects. From designing clear, easy-to-use documentation, and educating teams about our standard components and patterns, to advocating for our content system and nerding out on grammar and style choices, there’s a huge range of things to get immersed in.

The role:

  • You’ll be embedded within the account details growth team — a tight-knit, cross-functional team of engineers and product designers — where you can help drive direction, deliver impact, and improve the way we build our product.
  • You’ll influence how content shapes the product, working with other disciplines in the team (product design, research, product management etc) as well as working with the content guild to improve the quality of our content design in the whole organisation.
  • You’ll be an advocate for content in the design system throughout the company, representing the team in product discussions and educating others on how to use the system.

About the Team:

Receive is now a tribe with one vision: Make receiving money effortless, fair, and reliable for people and businesses. So wherever you are in the world you can get paid in an instant.

The Receive squad has grown substantially in the last year and now includes the following teams:

Account details growth (where this role is based) – responsible for the awareness and adoption as well as ease of use around global bank details. This is closely linked to the ‘get paid’ team below. Essentially Account Details Growth is the core of all receive functionality at Wise which means the opportunities are great.

The squad currently has 2 product designers, a researcher, a content designer and a group design lead. We are currently recruiting for another researcher  and a content designer specifically for the account details growth team.

Over 60% of the volume being paid into Wise comes from business yet less than 20% of the users which make up this volume are businesses meaning there is a huge opportunity to gain more traction in the market and help businesses grow further whilst continuing to support our consumer customers of course.

Get paid – looking at how people can receive money mainly in relation to bank details such as receiving payment for an invoice. We are looking to build a payment facilitation solution whereby businesses can receive money however they like (e.g. card) and equally their customers can pay however is most convenient to them.

There are a further 3 teams in the squad who are currently more engineering focussed but will need design support in the future.

In a nutshell, we’re looking for:

We’re looking for an experienced Content Designer (3+years) who has a track record of designing simple, elegant, user-centred content for digital products. They must be able to confidently articulate the reasons behind the content choices they’ve made, be super collaborative, and have the ability to advocate for best practices across the company to help us increase quality.

Must-have skills/qualities:

  • Has experience of writing for both mobile and web interfaces
  • Is comfortable researching, user testing and iterating on content
  • Believes in the importance of consistency, and understand the benefits of building things systematically
  • Has experience of writing for scale, which could include creating writing guidelines, best practices, or taxonomies that help others design great content too
  • Can clearly express their thoughts, and critique content design work with concrete examples
  • Can guide their team on how content contributes to the user experience, as well as educate on the role of content in a product team
  • Sets a strong example with their craft, finding ways to teach, surface their thinking, and build conviction in others
  • Is collaborative and welcomes constructive feedback

Nice to have skills:

  • Payments/Fintech experience
  • Knowledge of interaction design patterns
  • Training/coaching experience — e.g. running writing workshops, coaching other writers etc
  • We’re people without borders — without judgement or prejudice, too. We want to work with the best people, no matter their background. So if you’re passionate about learning new things and keen to join our mission, you’ll fit right in.
  • Also, qualifications aren’t that important to us. If you’ve got great experience, and you’re great at articulating your thinking, we’d like to hear from you.
  • And because we believe that diverse teams build better products, we’d especially love to hear from you if you’re from an under-represented demographic.
