With large language models now available to any software team through an API, every startup is now able to utilize AI. Speaking at Startup Grind’s Product + AI Summit, Index partner Erin Price-Wright explains why this means AI will soon be as ubiquitous as databases and the cloud.
At Index, we’ve been investing in AI for almost a decade, but more recently there has been a major shift as companies no longer need to develop their own models. It means that rather than having to compete for a small pool of expert data scientists, the power of AI is available to any software team through an API that connects to foundational models such as OpenAI or Cohere.
Before becoming an investor, Index partner Erin Price-Wright spent four years as Head of Product for Data Analytics and AI at Palantir Technologies and has invested in a number of AI companies including Weaviate, BRINC Drones and Arthur AI. Speaking at Startup Grind’s Product + AI Summit in June 2023, Erin explains how this new accessibility to AI is creating opportunities for both existing growth companies and new startups that cannot be ignored.
