Head of Compliance Middle East

Adyen Middle East is seeking a highly-motivated Compliance Officer to provide regulatory guidance and oversight for the operations of Adyen in the Middle East region.

The mission of the Compliance function at Adyen is to protect Adyen’s vision through compliance expertise and strategic advice. The Compliance team works across multiple teams to help manage risk, identify opportunities, and deliver on Adyen’s offering of exceptional products and services. This role will require maintaining regulatory compliance with Adyen’s current payment products, providing regulatory guidance for any new products or services Adyen adds and ensure oversight of the activities of Adyen in the Middle East region in line with the expectations of the local regulators.

Just like our customers, the overall Compliance function at Adyen operates globally. A key part of this position will be working with those global functions to align Compliance programs and support scheme initiatives.

  • What you’ll do
  • Provide guidance and leadership from a compliance perspective on the Middle Eastern expansion;
  • Maintain compliance oversight on the activities of Adyen Middle East in alignment with global policies to ensure controlled and sustainable growth of the business;
  • Maintain relationships with regulators in the Middle East region;
  • Manage local compliance requirements in line with the compliance group framework;
  • Develop and maintain 2nd Line policies relating to local regulatory requirements;
  • Work with 1st Line teams to ensure proper implementation of all policies;
  • Provide guidance to internal teams, including Underwriting, Sales, Account Management, around regulatory requirements.

Who you are

  • 5+ years of experience in Compliance and Regulatory Affairs;
  • Experience in the payments industry;
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations applicable to the payment services and in particular DFSA and UAECB rules, as well as regional integrity laws and regulations;
  • Experience with policy setting of rules and regulations and the ability to understand legal and regulatory concepts and convert them into relevant, practical business requirements;
  • Ability to identify relevant risks that could impact compliance and reputational risk;
  • Experience in interactions with regulatory bodies such as central banks;
  • A self-starter that has the ability to thrive in a start-up environment with minimal supervision and run things like your own business;
  • Exceptional English communication skills and ability to influence both internally and externally. Fluency in Arabic is a plus.
