The Role

Adyen is seeking an experienced Linux Security Engineer to join our Infrastructure Security team in Amsterdam. You will play a critical role in securing and scaling our real-time, distributed 24/7 infrastructure. As a Linux Security Engineer, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing the security aspects of our platform. You will design and implement robust threat prevention and detection capabilities, system hardening, and secure configurations that protect our infrastructure at scale.

What You’ll Do

  • Secure and harden Linux-based systems across multiple global data centers.
  • Develop and implement advanced threat prevention, detection capabilities, and compliance monitoring.
  • Design and enforce security baselines, system hardening techniques, and secure configurations.
  • Perform audits and monitor compliance to minimize the attack surface.
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure security is integrated into every stage of system development and operations.
  • Continuously optimize existing security measures and design new controls to enhance our security posture.

Who You Are

  • You have a strong background in Linux system internals and are comfortable working in a command-line environment.
  • You have experience in securing, hardening, and automating large-scale, on-premise infrastructures.
  • You possess working knowledge of threat prevention, detection capabilities, and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS).
  • You excel at collaborating across cyber security, infrastructure, and development teams.
  • You are passionate about cybersecurity and continuously seek to deepen your knowledge.

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Strong expertise in Linux systems security, including system internals and hardening.
  • Experience with threat prevention, detection, and mitigation techniques.
  • Knowledge of hardening and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS).
  • Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Experience with container security, private cloud infrastructure, and security APIs.
  • Familiarity with the Cyber Kill Chain or Mitre ATT&CK framework is a plus.
