Aurora’s Product Security team’s mission is to design security into all software, hardware, and services developed by Aurora.

Our team is responsible for the secure design and implementation of technology built for the onboard vehicle platform and the cloud services with which the vehicle communicates. In addition to performing architecture reviews, reviewing threat models, executing code reviews, and fuzzing Aurora’s products, we also design and develop new security technologies for our autonomous vehicle platform.

  • We are searching for an experienced autonomous vehicle security engineer to join us on this mission.
  • Job level is negotiable based on experience. Remote work is approved for US-based employees, including for post-pandemic.

In this role, you will

  • Design and develop new security technologies for our autonomous vehicle platform
  • Perform architectural design reviews of software, hardware, and services
  • Execute dynamic penetration testing on Aurora’s software, hardware, and services
  • Develop scripts and tools to assist with security assessments, and to automate security scans
  • Assist development teams in driving their secure SDLC

Essential

  • Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture
  • Experience building and evaluating threat models
  • Experience performing dynamic testing of software and services
  • Solid understanding of cryptography as it relates to PKI and network security protocols such as TLS
  • Familiarity with automotive protocols and security standards
  • Foundational knowledge of operating system security for Linux
  • Foundational knowledge of the CWE Top 25
  • Ability to write production-quality code in Golang, Python, or C++
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the information security space
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the robotics or automotive space

Desirable

  • Experience designing solutions for a Zero Trust Architecture
  • Foundational knowledge of firmware security and hardware security, specifically in the automotive space
  • Experience performing dynamic testing of hardware
  • Experience with WiFi, Bluetooth, RF, and/or USB security
  • Experience developing and using fuzzers
  • Foundational knowledge of cloud security, specifically AWS
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code
  • Experience with Trusted Platform Modules, HSMs, and trusted boot
  • A history of giving back to the security industry via open source contributions, published papers, or conference presentations
