Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all. We’re searching for a Class A Modeler.  As a Class A Modeler on the Product team you will create digital surfaces ranging from design team concept support to Class-A engineering hand-off level quality.

In this role, you will

  • Collaborate with a team of Industrial Designers, to create high quality CAS surfaces to support design intent development for the Aurora self driving hardware kits and self driving experience.
  • Work with cross functional teams including: engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, craftsmanship and marketing to execute industrial design concept data into production prep data.
  • Work tightly within the Industrial Design process, ensuring initial design intent is translated into feasible production intent content throughout the R and D process.
  • Create digital assets to support communication of the direction of the Aurora self driving products and solutions, visual assets as well as data for prototyping.
  • Support the Product team with concept projects, general studies, and production intent development, under the guidance of Design leadership and Hardware Engineering.
  • Ensure aesthetic adjustments are incorporated under Design leadership and Hardware Engineering in a timely manner.
  • Create and revise Class-A surface derived from Design team sketch model polygonal data and 2D sketches.
  • Work together with engineers to incorporate high level feasibility for Class-A tooling.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, transportation design or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of CAD experience, preferably within the automotive OEM space.
  • Proficiency in Keyshot, VRED or equivalent rendering software.
  • Understanding of production development and procedures with knowledge in manufacturing and prototyping process and general construction and engineering principles.
  • Adept at time management and organization and able to work within tight time frames.
  • Highly motivated, and collaborative, strong organizational and communication skills.
