Reporting to the Controller, you will be responsible for daily bank settlement operations, monthly financial statement close, audits, regulatory requirements, presenting conclusions, and making actionable recommendations to leadership.  This is a remote position with the option to work in our Utrecht office.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and oversee finance operations for EU merchants, including bank settlements and other daily finance operations
  • Perform settlement liability reconciliation, month end close process, etc.
  • Review and analyze select vendor bills for accuracy
  • Special projects such as assistance with licensing process
  • Assist with annual budget, product profitability and financial analytics, specifically related to debit card
  • Manage statutory audit, tax and VAT filings
  • Work with compliance on merchant settlement matters
  • Promote collaborative working relationships with senior management and other stakeholders

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in finance or accounting
  • 3+ years of experience in debit card or credit card acquiring or for an acquiring bank, specifically in an online payment processing or e-commerce environment
  • Strong working knowledge of card business issues such as loss prevention
  • Very strong individual contributor; if needed, ability to manage others
  • Excellent communication, quantitative, and analytical skills
  • General financial management and planning skills
  • Self-starter, can perform well under pressure, eager to learn and develop new skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Experience with ERP system like NetSuite, and proficient in MS Excel
  • Fluent in English, preferably also Dutch
  • Enthusiastic about cryptocurrency and disruptive technology; knowledge of blockchain technology is a plus
  • Located in The Netherlands with the flexibility to work remotely
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics or a similar discipline

Preferred:

  • Experience working at a fintech, card processing company
  • Payment industry expertise, specifically with consumer payments
  • Knowledge of applying for E-Money License or Payment Institution License in Europe
