The QA Engineer is tasked with ensuring the quality of Built’s software products. Utilizing a range of quality assurance tools, developed both internally and externally, the QA Engineer verifies that necessary operations work as expected.


  • Development Lifecycle Quality Assurance
  • Utilize automated tools to ensure introduced software does not break any existing functionality
  • Communicate the presence of any bugs found while testing back to the appropriate team
  • Prevent new bugs from being introduced
  • Automated Release Testing
  • Automate baseline smoke testing
  • Develop routine tests leveraging tools such as SauceLabs and Cloudwatch Canaries
  • Test Suite Maintenance
  • Manage the test database for those tests, which includes adding new data as tests are created/modified and ensuring the QA environment is setup with fresh data before every run of tests
  • Increase automated testing coverage in tandem with Software Engineers
  • Build out the Quality Assurance pipeline, which includes:
  • Identifying areas of our system which have inadequate test coverage across a multitude of environments
  • Developing plans to address those shortcomings and routinely test multiple environments
  • Utilizing those test plans to implement new Quality Assurance systems which increase our confidence on each release

Basic Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of one or more of the following: Python, PHP, JavaScript/TypeScript/NodeJS
  • Working knowledge in persistence layers such as MySQL and Redis
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Experience with code reviews
  • Knowledge of Selenium

Advanced Qualifications:

  • GoCD
  • Rundeck
  • Sentry
  • Pendo
  • NewRelic
  • AWS Cloudwatch Canaries
  • Saucelabs


  • Monitoring of uncaught exceptions in production
  • Identification of revenue producing, key transactions which must be always available
  • Number of automated tests across a number of services and applications to ensure uptime
