Check is a payroll-as-a-service API that lets you embed payroll directly in your vertical SaaS, HR, or time-tracking platform. Our API abstracts away the complexities of running payroll: tax calculation, remittance, and filing, plus the movement of money between companies and employees. This enables companies to easily build fully integrated payroll products to offer to their customers.

At Check, the Tax Operations team is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely tax processing, payment and filing for every partner and company on our platform. The tax team helps to facilitate payments, filings, account set up and quarter end processes. It is the responsibility of the tax operations specialist to ensure confidence for all of our partners.

We’re looking for an experienced and collaborative tax individual to join our team and work closely with our Tax Operations Manager.

In this role, you will:

  • Review all new account tax set ups
  • Submit tax payments (internal and external)
  • Manage tax implementation processes
  • Maintain client listings on agency sites
  • Keep organized financials
  • Lead quarter end processing
  • Resolve potential tax issues

Many backgrounds could fit this role, but ideal candidates will have:

  • Have 3+ years of experience in tax
  • Comfortable researching tax changes
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Capable of managing several tasks at once in a fast-moving environment
  • Willing and eager to “roll-up their sleeves” and get things done
  • Our team is distributed across the US, with hubs in New York City and San Francisco.
