What we do at Codat

Our mission is to make life easier for the lifeblood of economies globally; small and medium-sized businesses. Codat is a universal API for consented business financial data, powering the next generation of products and services for this historically underserved market.

We have offices in London, New York, Sydney, and a San Francisco office will be opening soon. We are a privately held company and have recently closed our Series B, being funded by Index Ventures, Tiger Global, American Express, PayPal and a line-up of world-class angel investors.

We live by our values of being united as a single team, building a product that is useful to our clients and their customers alike, with a focus and urgency that makes us unstoppable.

What you will be doing

As People Operations Lead you will set the expectations of excellence, and lead by example, across our entire employee life cycle from on-boarding to operational processes and strategic projects. This includes supporting our managers and leaders in people-related processes, our vision and strategies across the company, whilst ensuring our policies and processes adhere to both legislation and good practise.

This opportunity enables you to work with and across our business on key scaling initiatives including providing and enhancing our superb on-boarding processes, maintaining our exceptional retention rate, understanding and embodying our values, working closely with all managers and continuing to provide excellent on-going support for all our people across the globe. As we enter our next phase of scaling from 200 to 400 people in 2022 (and beyond in the coming years), this role will be integral in the continued success of Codat, with our people always being at the heart of it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of People Managers and People Coordinators
  • Setting exceptional standards with the team and leading by example daily around what ‘amazing’ looks like within a People Operations function
  • Provide the best possible on-boarding experience for all new hires, as well as any on-going support that may be required
  • Managing employee relations matters, as well as the welfare of our people
  • Collaborating with managers, to ensure the smooth operating of our business from a people perspective
  • Partnering with the Head of People to contribute to, and roll-out the People Strategy, including taking the lead on integral strategic projects
  • To lead the team in the administration of People-related information; from employment contracts, tracking and filling of documentation
  • To support leaders in developing their teams, and in succession planning, in anticipation of both employee and organisational development
  • Continue to ensure the successful daily operation of Codat as a part of the Operations team

Our values

No matter what we’re doing - whether we’re speaking to customers, partners or to each other - we live by our values.

We believe in delivering useful technology that solves real problems for real businesses. We have a real want to do the stuff that isn’t always “cool” but makes a difference.

We believe that the people in the best teams push and enable each other to excel. We’re united when we have each other’s backs - when something goes wrong, we don’t blame, we work together to fix it. We embrace differences of opinion to end up with better outcomes. We don’t let our egos win.

We believe that an unstoppable drive towards a single, clearly stated goal is the best way to build great things. We are biased towards action - we make informed decisions and then we act. There is no such thing as an impossible problem, just a great challenge to sink our teeth into.

What excites us

  • You have been working in a People based role for several years
  • You have been part of a People function within a hyper-growth company, seeing the challenges and hurdles when scaling a business from 200 to 1000 people
  • You are motivated to improve continuously, both personally and on a Company level – rather than taking things as read, you’re always working out how we can improve them
  • You are superb at integrating yourself into a company, understanding the culture quickly and embodying the company’s values
  • You have built a reputation as being the ‘go-to’ person for all People related matters –employment law, nuances of legislation and best practices
  • You understand when and how to blur the lines to find solutions to key matters that work for the business as well as the employees, not just always following the letter of the law
  • You understand that people are at the heart of our success but sometimes we must make decisions that are right for the business and not what is popular
  • You are driven, motivated and highly proactive to go above and beyond
  • You are systematic and organised to a fault
  • You’re professional, polite and able to communicate complex ideas clearly
  • Tech literate, quick to learn systems and excited to learn more
  • You can proactively manage expectations and push back when needed
  • If you are excited about applying for this role but aren’t certain you meet 100% of the criteria, we’d still love to hear from you
