What you will be doing:

The Data Governance Investigations Analyst will support the senior data leadership and Data Stewards in improving the quality and oversight of our data. This role is critical in establishing our ability to manage our data to maximise its value, improve client outcomes and enhance our regulatory compliance.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we mobilise our data governance approach across ComplyAdvantage. We are defining our processes, onboarding new enterprise-grade tooling, and defining and rolling out key roles and responsibilities company-wide. You will be able to help design these and set out what good looks like. You will have the opportunity to work across the business, helping to solve one of our most fundamental challenges.

As a Data Governance Investigations Analyst, you will be responsible for the delivery of key governance components:

Data Quality

  • Investigate data quality issues, including root cause analysis, quantification and proposed remediation
  • Support data stewards to define and create data quality and business rules (e.g. thresholds)
  • Support data stewards to build DQ dashboards and reporting at the domain level
  • Be responsible for engaging business users with new data quality tool and helping them understand its uses and benefits
  • Be responsible for defining best practices in the measurement and remediation of data quality issues
  • Be responsible for cross-domain monitoring of data quality, spotting inconsistent approaches, and engaging with data stewards as needed

Data Remediation

  • Support the resolution of data quality issues
    • Root Cause Analysis
    • Facilitate remediation action where issues exist in the data
    • Outline fix forward action to prevent recurrence
  • Support the training of relevant colleagues on preventing recurrences

Data Cataloguing

  • Support data stewards in the documentation of our product, client, and business data into the glossary and dictionary, across all domain areas

Data Retention

  • Support data stewards to define data retention rule sets, working with DPO, Legal, and Product
  • Monitor and track TM and CSOM remediation projects

Data Domain Support

  • Work closely with data domains in a federated model to build awareness and appreciation of our data
  • Support with local issues and projects to improve our data
  • Gain local domain knowledge and expertise

Data Culture

  • Champion the right culture and behaviours regarding our data
  • Support data owners and stewards to build our data culture and improve data literacy across domains
  • Work with Stewards to identify relevant local initiatives and processes into which to embed best practice
  • Identify any domain-specific issues in roles and responsibilities or resourcing that inhibit our data culture
  • Identify any training needs within domains and support matching to L&D solution (training course, mentoring, cross-domain expertise sharing, etc)

About you:

As a Data Governance Analyst, you will preferably have:

Communication Skills

  • A key part of the role will be communicating across the business with partnered data owners and stewards, clearly being able to describe what we are doing and why it will be important
  • Clear communication will be necessary to help establish quality measurement, understand the root causes of issues, and collaborate on resolutions
  • Communication with senior data leadership on progress across domains, blockers, and next steps will help us keep progress on track

Persuasion skills

  • We are going to be setting up data governance from scratch and so will need to persuade stakeholders of the value of what we’re doing
  • Being able to identify their drivers and articulate benefits to them will be important
  • Building relationships across the business will be important in achieving our goals

Facilitation skills

  • Being able to coordinate different parties to achieve a resolution will be important, such as engaging engineering to resolve a system issue that impacts data quality
  • Utilising relationships to know who to bring in and influence them

Project management skills

  • We are establishing best practices and will be working in a project manner, so managing deadlines, coordinating work, and identifying risks and issues will be important

Optional Experience

  • Experience in data quality measurement and remediation
  • Experience in a business partnering/engagement role
  • Experience in change or project environments, where priorities can shift and processes are not fully defined
  • Experience in DG roles/teams is helpful but not mandatory
