We are looking for a driven, talented Software Engineer (which can be fully remote or hybrid) to build Internal Tools for engineers within our organization. This position comes with the opportunity to work fully remote in helping us to build our SaaS-based anti-money laundering solution to help organizations prevent financial crime!

The role

As our first hire dedicated to building internal tooling, you’ll work on building new internal APIs, as well as incremental improvements toward our Transaction Monitoring product with an aim to improve the quality of life for engineers working with the product. You’ll be working within our Solution Engineering team—the Engineering team working closest to the customer—to improve their workflow and implement some big enhancements to how we manage deployments of our Transaction Monitoring product. We’ll be looking to you to bring your own ideas and experience: while we have some initial exciting plans for internal tooling, over time you will have a greater control over the roadmap and our future direction. As we grow, you may even find yourself recruiting others to build out a larger team dedicated to internal tooling!

  • What does success look like in your first 6 months?

You have contributed to building internal tooling within the Solution Engineering team. You’ve initially worked on internal APIs, and then worked on pieces of tooling to interact with these APIs and simplify the workflow of your colleagues. You’ve achieved this by collaborating with Solution Engineers, proactively proposing and building features to help with their workflow.

You can explain to others the main problem our Transaction Monitoring product is trying to solve for our users, as well as how the work of the Solution Engineering team fits in with the company’s wider goals. You know our Transaction Monitoring product, and how it’s configured within the company, in turn understanding it’s biggest pain points. You listen to users of the system and participate in sprint reviews, planning meetings and keep up to date with the product research.

You will have contributed your ideas to the architectural and process evolution of the configuration of our platform, and seen your ideas implemented.

You are continuously researching tools, technologies and practices. You are able to distinguish between what is hype and what is valuable, and you have solid arguments in favour of your proposals.

You can guide the team towards the established goals. Your colleagues have come to value your technical contributions, and you are able to identify areas that need improving and drive those improvements.

Who we are looking for

We value those who take initiative and pride in their work and contribute to a positive working environment. You will be able to deliver on the points covered above, taking into account the following:

  • Experience designing both client and internal APIs
  • Experience working in a shared services architecture
  • Experience of different types of testing and when to apply it
  • Experience building internal tooling at prior companies is a big plus
  • Experience working with tooling for testing, build and deployment pipelines (setting it up is a plus) in a continuous development environment
  • Good communication and writing skills including experience writing technical documentation
  • Experience with data-driven applications, in particular in scaling complex database operations performantly is considered a plus
