About the Role

We are currently seeking a results-oriented professional to join Confluent as a Principal, Post-Merger Integration. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the integration of Confluent acquisitions and will report to the VP, Corporate Development.

The Principal, Post-Merger Integration will lead M&A integration processes in partnership with executive and functional leadership. This role will translate the M&A objectives into project goals, plans, and actions to ensure Confluent standards for quality, timeline, and budget are met and synergies are achieved. The successful candidate will have proven skills and a demonstrated track record in serving as both a trusted strategic advisor and a process-and-results-oriented leader who can plan and drive the integration of technology acquisitions.

Note: We have one position open for the Principal, Post-Merger Integration role. We are open to a remote hire for this position and have posted the role in multiple areas to attract the best talent.

What you’ll do

  • Ensure integration plans are aligned with the strategic goals of an acquisition. Take a leadership role in the diligence process, managing a large cross-functional team to review and evaluate whether a potential target will be well-positioned to meet Confluent’s strategic goals
  • Build integration plan templates that can be tailored based on specifics of individual acquisitions, ensuring timely and accurate execution of all deliverables associated with assigned M&A integration programs
  • Conduct due diligence; assess the technological risks associated with integration and perform requirements gathering and analysis
  • Serve as a single point of contact and coordination to all internal and external stakeholder groups during both the diligence and integration phases
  • Partner with business stakeholders to increase organizational knowledge, build relationships, assist in the development of operational plans post-close, and confirm integration approach
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for various audiences including executives, team members, and third-parties
  • Lead execution of all aspects of integration plans according to established targets and manage integration initiatives versus specific targets in the plan
  • Assist in the execution of business initiatives during integration/transition period to ensure achievement of financial goals and leading indicators
  • Measure the achievement of specific financial measures and leading indicators throughout the integration/transition period
  • Work closely with all relevant functions (IT, Finance, HR, Legal, etc) at Confluent to build and execute integration plans
  • Partner with management and staff of acquired businesses to execute integration plan, assimilate into Confluent, and achieve financial targets during integration/transition phase
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to create a better, faster, easier integration experience for each M&A deal

What we’re looking for

  • Total work experience of 10+ years, with minimum 5 years of experience in the operational integration of mergers & acquisitions either at a strategy consulting firm or within a technology company
  • PMP certification and/or MBA from Top 20 Business School (preferred)
  • Experience in digital media, SaaS, and subscription business models preferred but not required
  • Experience working in a matrix organization, effectively communicating, collaborating, and executing with cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering multiple complex initiatives while demonstrating a high level of organization and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong strategic and critical thinking capabilities with a change agent mentality - always actively seeking and recognizing opportunities to improve processes
  • Excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills and a proven background of leading through influence
  • Ability to create fact-based financial estimates, and subsequently measure performance against estimate, identify variance, and proactively address issues to keep within budget
  • Solutions-oriented self-starter and problem-solver with demonstrated flexibility and adaptability
  • Solid project management and conflict resolution skills; strong ability to problem solve and multi-task
