Credit Benchmark is a financial data analytics company bringing together the credit risk assessments of the world’s leading financial institutions to deliver greater visibility into the credit quality of individual entities.

We are growing rapidly and are looking for a permanent, full-time Senior Data Operations Analyst to join our team. This role is based in our London office with hybrid working.

This is an opportunity to join an expanding organisation and help develop a distinctive financial data service that combines intelligence from leading financial institutions around the world.

The role

Reporting into the Product & Technology function, the Senior Data Operations Analyst will bring significant (3+ years), demonstrable experience in data operations or a similar role and a strong track record of independently solving complex data problems, working closely with the manager of the team as their deputy and helping to lead and develop the team.

The role offers an opportunity to deepen expertise in financial data, take ownership of critical operational processes and lead improvements across a unique range of datasets.

To succeed in this role, the candidate will bring a mix of innovative thinking, problem-solving, technical expertise and strong relationship-building skills.

As a Senior Data Operations Analyst, the candidate will:

  • Be part of a busy and diverse team and play a key part in maintaining and helping to develop our credit risk data service
  • Be responsible for overseeing our core data operations: from working with data contributors to ensuring quality and accuracy of data input & output, managing the processing of complex datasets, and investigating datasets to resolve problems and provide value-added analysis
  • Help to implement and optimise data-driven solutions and process enhancements that drive efficiency and innovation
  • Use technical expertise and analytical skills to solve complex data challenges and enable data-focused decision-making within the team and wider company
Key responsibilities
  • Owning and developing our data processing operations: identify, prioritise and resolve data quality issues and exceptions
  • Quality and execution of service: ensuring the timely delivery of Credit Benchmark services, meeting service level targets
  • Partnership with our data contributors: build and manage professional client relationships, to ensure smooth running of the data aggregation process and effective handling, escalation and response to queries/issues
  • Working with other internal teams such as Sales, Analytics or Product to jointly respond to client queries, and support internal requests and projects
  • Identifying, designing and implementing continuous improvements to operational processes, increasing the accuracy, reliability and efficiency of data processing
  • Team leadership: mentoring and guiding analysts across London and Bangalore, reviewing their work and code, and setting standards for data quality and process
What we are looking for

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following technical expertise, data operations experience and leadership capabilities:

Technical skills

  • A broad technical understanding and the ability to diagnose data problems, evaluate alternative approaches and select the most appropriate solution across SQL, Python, Snowflake and other related technologies
  • Confident writing production-quality SQL and Python, and reviewing code written by others before it goes into production systems and data solutions

Additional skills

  • Significant experience working with complex datasets, with a structured and intuitive approach to investigating data problems, identifying root causes and validating solutions
  • Proven ability to lead projects independently, exercise sound judgement and escalate risks or decisions when appropriate
  • Demonstrable leadership experience, gained through managing individuals or leading complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, with the ability to provide direction, coordinate delivery and influence outcomes
  • Willing to take on manual tasks in the short term while driving automation over time
  • Strong project-management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities, manage dependencies, deliver to deadlines and communicate progress, risks and outcomes clearly to stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams, functions and geographies. Able to translate complex data into clear, accessible insights and articulate analysis effectively
