As the Engineering Manager for the Revenue Query (RQ) team at Datadog, you will lead the team responsible for evolving our usage and billing query experience, which supports both our public APIs and in-app experience. You'll oversee the scalability and operation of our infrastructure, utilizing technologies like Postgres, Spark, Python, and Go across major cloud providers. Collaborating closely with Product Managers, you’ll influence the development of new products and ensure alignment with customer needs.

This role offers significant growth potential as you strengthen your people management and technical leadership skills, while taking ownership of the team’s roadmap and addressing key challenges in data ingestion and performance.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and Manage Team: Oversee a team of engineers, providing mentorship and fostering their professional growth while ensuring high performance.
  • Enhance API experience: Drive the development and optimization of usage and cost APIs, ensuring they meet internal and external customer needs.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with peer Managers, Product Managers and Technical Project Managers to align project goals and influence the evolution of customer-facing features.
  • Ensure Scalability and Performance: Take ownership of the infrastructure’s scalability and operational efficiency, utilizing technologies such as Postgres, Spark, Python, and Go across the 3 major cloud providers.
  • Roadmap Management: Develop and maintain the team’s roadmap, prioritizing initiatives that align with company objectives, customer value and infrastructure optimization.
  • Address Technical Challenges: Identify and resolve challenges related to data ingestion and performance, driving continuous improvement within the team and processes.

Who You Are:

  • People Management Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience managing engineering teams, with a focus on mentoring and developing talent.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with technologies such as Python, Go, Spark, and data infrastructure management.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Proven ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, facilitating collaboration across teams and across time zones.
  • Partnership Skills: Experience in building strong relationships with Product Managers and cross-functional teams to drive project success.
  • Customer-Facing Experience: Understanding of customer needs and experience in delivering solutions that enhance the user experience.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical skills to identify challenges and implement effective solutions in a dynamic environment.
