We’re looking for a talented Staff Engineer to help us secure, scale and innovate our Action Platform. Our platform powers integrations with third-party systems for various products, including Workflow Automation, App Builder, and more. These actions range from sending a Slack message, updating an AWS S3 bucket, to deleting a Kubernetes pod. Additionally, we support Private Actions, which run on customer infrastructure via a Go runner, while Cloud Actions are handled by TypeScript Action this role, you’ll work across two key teams: API Team: responsible for orchestration and scaling of our infrastructure and cloud services with a focus on security posture and threat mitigation & Runtime Team: focused on the development and lifecycle of our action platform runners, enhancing the Action Developer Experience, and supporting the UI components delivered to our clients, and ensuring secure execution environments.We’re looking for someone with first-hand exposure to security, as the role involves delivering secure, scalable solutions that are critical to both our customers and Datadog. What You’ll Do:
- Design and drive high priority, high visibility projects that increase the platform’s security, resilience and scalability across multiple teams
- Lead and guide others through architectural decisions for new and existing distributed, high-throughput, real-time systems
- Identify potential system risks and trends in reliability, and design solutions to address them
- Provide input on prioritization of engineering-led initiatives in short- and long-term planning and roadmaps
- Collaborate closely with partner platforms that integrate and depend on the event platform to provide critical capabilities to their customers
Who You Are:
- You have hands-on experience with security-related projects, such as implementing complex permission boundaries, authentication/authorization layers, or execution isolation.
- You have led cross-team initiatives in a platform or infrastructure-focused environment for 2+ years.
- Passionate about performance and efficiency optimization.
- You have led impactful technical initiatives in an environment where performance, reliability, and accuracy are first-order concerns
- You have a reliability-oriented mindset and care deeply about designing and building resilient architectures
- You have significant back end programming experienced and have architected, built, and operated distributed systems to solve problems at high scale
