Commercial Training Manager
As a Commercial Training Manager you will be responsible for designing and delivering programs that increase the knowledge and skills of our frontline commercial teams across all markets Deliveroo operates. In this role you will work with many commercial stakeholders and subject matter experts to design and deliver through multiple learning formats.
You will use your experience in learning and frontline commercial teams, across sales, account management and operational roles to increase the speed to competence of new starters and upskill and develop existing team members. Learning topics will include soft skills, commercial competencies, product and industry knowledge and operational policies. Key areas of responsibility will include:
Design and build Commercial learning Programs:
- Collaborate on designing and building in-person and digital learning programmes aligned with the Commercial learning and development strategy and wider company objectives that cater to our teams’ diverse learning needs.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external partners and subject matter experts to source and deliver high-quality learning content.
- Engage and influence stakeholders at all levels to understand skill gaps, role context and market dynamics as well as gaining support and participation for learning initiatives.
- Where relevant, work with third party providers to influence program design and build ensuring relevance for Deliveroo Commercial teams.
Deliver Commercial learning Programs:
- Deliver learning Programs to front line staff and managers through a mix of learning methods.
- Where necessary, work with third party providers to deliver and embed co-designed learning programs.
- Utilise project management methodologies to manage the end-to-end lifecycle of learning programs, including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and budget management.
- Drive the adoption of digital learning platforms and technologies, ensuring their effectiveness and alignment with Commercial objectives.
- Implement processes for measuring program effectiveness, monitor and review and adjust training as needed based on outcomes.
Be a subject matter expert and learning advisor to Commercial Leadership
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in learning and development, particularly in the digital learning space, and proactively incorporate innovative approaches into programs.
- Partner with your Commercial Training Manager peers to share best practices, review ways of working and constantly evolve the way in which Commercial Learning is built and delivered.
- Advise Commercial stakeholders on the most appropriate learning mechanisms, support them in the delivery of ‘in role’ learning and provide scaled solutions to quickly upskill in tactical areas.
Key competencies:
- Project Management: Ability to manage and progress a multiple, complex projects in parallel that involve multiple stakeholders across markets and other Deliveroo functions.
- Intermediate L&D Knowledge: Understands the foundational principles of learning and development and associated mechanisms to deliver against them.
- Process Design: Can map out end-to-end processes, identify inefficiencies, propose solutions and build the case for change.
- Problem-solving & Strategic Thinking: Clearly frames broad or complex issues, articulates tradeoffs, and recommends solutions. Understands the strategic implications of their work. Is able to anticipate risks and suggest ways to mitigate.
- Communication & Influence: Listens actively and empathetically. Simplifies complex ideas and focuses communication. Collaborates effectively across a wide range of teams and stakeholder groups. Demonstrates a confident presentation style.
- Team Development and Community-Building: A team player who readily collaborates cross-functionally and can resolve areas of misalignment or conflict between teams. Finds opportunities to build a sense of community and coach more junior team members.
