The Role
We are looking for a Commercial Manager to join our UKI Commercial team in the Chinese Category. Reporting to the Head of Chinese Category, this is an exciting opportunity to support the growth of Chinese restaurants across UKI.
You will act as the key program lead within the Category team of Commercial Account Managers and Business Development Managers who manage and sign the highest performing Chinese restaurants around the UK and Ireland. You will run programs with the team to both drive growth in our existing portfolio and acquire the next great restaurants for Deliveroo, including working collaboratively with different teams across the Deliveroo business (e.g. Regional Managers, our desk based sales and account teams, Finance and Marketing) to ensure the Chinese Category is performing to its best.
What you'll be doing
- Category management: working not just with your team, but with regional commercial teams across UK & Ireland, technology, marketing and partnerships to maximise and grow the Category.
- Portfolio optimisation: taking the frameworks we’ve developed to make sure our field and desk-based resources are deployed optimally on our Best Local Restaurants.
- Commercial Acumen: making sure our sales and account teams are delivering the best commercial outcomes for Deliveroo, supporting them to improve their performance in collaboration with the Head of Chinese Category.
- Delivering programmes: as a senior manager in our business, you’ll lead the delivery and performance of large commercial programmes by working across regional, commercial and project teams based in and out of Head Office.
- Tasting: Sample food from a variety of high quality establishments and attend restaurant and food meet ups. Enjoy the restaurant scene and have a passion for all the different aspects of Chinese cuisine.
Requirements
- 5+ program delivery and commercial experience in a similar market and industry.
- A strong leader, able to influence colleagues both inside and outside of our organisation in order to achieve our business goals.
- Capable of managing cross functional initiatives to improve ways of working and commercial outcomes via a matrix approach, not just direct line management.
- Good Mandarin speaker. This is a real must as most of our Chinese partners and Category team prefer to communicate in Mandarin.
- Good negotiator, able to help advise the team on win-win deals for restaurants and for Deliveroo within our agreed framework.
- Commercially knowledgeable who understands the economics of food delivery - for restaurants and Deliveroo.
- Be able to demonstrate product and industry knowledge to clients.
- Effective relationship-building and communication skills whether face to face, through phone, WeChat or email.
- Have an interest in all things food and restaurants.
- Be tenacious and motivated.
