Figma is growing our team of passionate people on a mission to make design accessible to all. Born on the Web, Figma helps entire product teams brainstorm, design and build better products — from start to finish. Whether it’s consolidating tools, simplifying workflows, or collaborating across teams and time zones, Figma makes the design process faster, more efficient, and fun while keeping everyone on the same page. From great products to long-lasting companies, we believe that nothing great is made alone—come make with us!

Figma is looking for a creative storyteller and writer to join our growing global communications team. The person in this role will be our team’s wordsmith — working across our most visible platforms to share company news and cultural touchpoints, supercharging Figma’s writing in the U.S. and globally. The ideal candidate will work with partners across the organization to uplevel Figma’s storytelling to our team of highly engaged and impassioned Figmates.
This is a new position in a fast-growing company, so the right person will have the opportunity to shape and run with it. In fact, they will be expected to. Previous and proven experience working at a fast-growing startup or newsroom is a must, as is a deep appreciation for the craft of writing. As a company that helps teams build things together, we will prioritize candidates who’ve shown they’re capable of thinking creatively, working collaboratively and moving mountains to get things done.

This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.

What you'll do at Figma:

  • Usher in a new chapter of Figma’s internal comms program. As we grow our team and our products, we are thinking of new ways to engage with Figmates, and keep them in the know.
  • Be the lead internal comms writer. You’ll touch everything from executive comms, to messaging the latest company benefits and offerings, to educating Figmates on financial events and landmark moments across Figma’s most visible internal platforms.
  • Work with cross-functional partners to shape our narrative. In partnership with our external Comms team, People team and so many other collaborators, we get to mold and share the story of Figma — as it continues to evolve as a product set, team and business.
  • Grow. You’ll be expected to stretch yourself and lead your development, with the goal of growing your leadership within the broader marketing team and the company as a whole.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • 4+ years of experience in an Internal Comms role or 6+ years of Journalist experience
  • Proven ability to learn quickly with a knack for breaking down complex concepts to a general audience.
  • The ability to Build Community with stakeholders across an organization.
  • Experience working in fast-growing, fast-paced companies where “figuring it out” is more important than “sticking to the process,” especially when a process doesn’t exist.
  • A passion for creative storytelling and an aversion for the mundane.
  • Believe the best way to get things done is together. Our company, like our product, is focused on collaboration. We challenge each other, and we respect each other.

While not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:

  • An understanding of product design, software development and/or cloud-native applications.
  • Proficiency in Figma
At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring hard-working, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
