The HR Generalist plays a critical role managing all people related aspects that align with the employment cycle of our associates. They include but are not limited to, supporting recruiting, managing the on-boarding process for hourly employees, managing our Helpscout queue and assigning tickets to team members, heavy data input in our HRIS, I-9 and EDD administration, as well as off boarding employees. The HR Generalist champions Good Eggs culture while providing people support for our location in West Oakland. Our ideal candidate will  be comfortable being hands on with administration and wearing multiple hats, in our fast growing company. This role works out of our Fulfillment Center.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Operations employees, supervisors and managers with employee related issues, concerns or complaints.
  • Support the Recruiting team as needed with candidate communication, job fairs, etc.
  • Onboard new hires into Dayforce (HRIS) and kick off new hire paperwork, ensuring all new hire paperwork is complete and in compliance.
  • Conduct new hire orientations familiarizing new employees with Good Eggs’ policies and procedures, employee safety and job duties in a manner that excites new hires.
  • Frontline support by answering basic employee questions about policies, procedures, benefits, LOA, etc.
  • Assist drafting, track and upkeep personnel related documentation, including grievances, performance management documents, and annual performance evaluations.
  • Employment visa administration.
  • Advise Operations Managers on various people related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal discrimination and employment regulations.
  • Coordinate with managers and Workers’ Comp provider to ensure all claims are being processed in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Confirm and coordinate the payment of employee referral bonuses.
  • Process reporting and push out to managers and key stakeholdersOther people related projects as needed.


  • Minimum 3 years experience with an HR Generalist or HR Manager job title. Experience within the food or warehouse industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of systems such as HR Information Systems (HRIS) and recruiting ATS, e.g.  Dayforce, Lever and Fountain
  • Strong service orientation and a sense of urgency is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal and must have the ability to communicate effectively across all management and functional levels.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and be able to manage multiple tasks, prioritize urgent needs and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Must be able to exercise discretion, sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy in all communications, due to the exposure to highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Must be flexible/adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced, changing startup environment that is open 24 hours  a day, seven days a week.
  • Experience with Google Docs preferred; solid Excel and Powerpoint skills needed.

Working conditions

This job works on-site within an open office, combined with a distribution center environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
