We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to solve complex problems gracefully, grow scalable systems, and help to shape our technical vision. We are solving a wide range of technical challenges as we power the world’s largest marketplace for men and women’s fashion.

This is an opportunity to join a team of smart, thoughtful engineers with a clean, robust tech stack. You’ll get to use some skills you already know, learn new ones, and help take the team to the next level.

Duties:

  • Working closely with product managers and other engineers to build features and improvements;
  • Analyzing customers’ needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints;
  • Handling large traffic surges, especially during high-profile influencer campaigns;
  • Solving challenges in architecture, fraud and security and ensuring the financial and transactional systems are always online; creating and maintaining production web applications according to the company’s needs;
  • Designing, developing and maintaining multiple Ruby on Rails websites and APIs using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design;
  • Performing Quality Assurance and code review of other engineers, and modifying existing software to correct errors, allowing it to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance;
  • Interfacing directly with company’s database management system’s PostgreSQL cluster;
  • Conferring with company’s designers, product managers, and other engineers to design system and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces to build features and implement improvements;
  • Maintaining company’s software security, website’s performance efficiency, and scalability;
  • Storing, retrieving, and manipulating data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements;
  • Developing and directing software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation;
  • Coordinating software system installation and monitoring equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met; and analyzing information to determine, recommend, and plan computer specifications and layouts, as well as peripheral equipment modifications.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or a closely related IT field with 5 years of software development experience including 5 years experience developing consuming web services software and programming with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, API design, back-end systems, database design, deployment, migrations, configuration and provisioning.
  • Hours: 40/wk
