What’s the opportunity?

As Intercom’s first dedicated People Compliance Program Manager, you will be an integral and valued addition to our scaling People Operations team as well as a key partner to our internal/external Legal, Security, Systems, IT, and other teams. This role will report directly to the Head of Global People Operations.  The People Compliance Program Manager will support verticals across the People Operations team with a focus on project management work.

You will bring a deep background in People Compliance and employee-related policy development, process, and audit support. We are looking for an extremely organized, detail-oriented team player who will develop and implement policies, processes, and initiatives that focus on streamlining People Compliance at Intercom.

What will I be doing?

  • Program managing People Operations compliance initiatives such as SOC2/ISO/HIPAA audit programs and other audits as necessary.
  • Reviewing and automating existing processes and designing new processes to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Conduct and lead regulatory assessments, working closely with our Security and Legal teams to ensure that our services and users remain compliant and are ahead of applicable security standards.
  • Maintain and enhance current internal People controls and drive all documentation efforts.
  • Drive partnership with IT, Data Insights, Security, Legal, Compensation and other cross-functional teams to develop automation from HRIS to improve combined team’s efficiencies and ensure compliance with SOC2/ISO/HIPAA.
  • Oversee existing systems process quality control and internal audits. Partner with Finance, Security, and People Data and Integrity teams to understand requirements and present timely results.
  • Assess the People Ops operational needs and work with appropriate stakeholders to ensure policies, processes, and procedures are up to date and relevant based on findings.
  • Manage the global Background Check program.
  • Other projects, as needed in the People Compliance space.

What skills do I need?

  • Minimum of 5+ years experience in a Human Resources/Legal/People Compliance function, preferably in a tech start-up environment.
  • You have a successful track record of supporting People Compliance initiatives, programs, policies and processes within a private and public company setting.
  • The ability to handle multiple projects and competing priorities and adapt to a fluid, high-growth environment.
  • Team player with a sense of ownership and “get things done” attitude - self-motivated and able to thrive in a fast-paced and self-directed environment.
  • Able to combine great people’s intuition, business judgment, and discretion in your decision-making.
  • Knowledge of HR compliance regulations, employment laws, and industry best practices.
  • Familiarity with Trade and Export Control compliance regulations.
  • Experience working for privately and publicly held companies is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited university is required.
