What’s the opportunity?

At Intercom we believe in the power of producing high quality content to grow our business. Over the past decade Intercom has built a reputation for publishing some of the most thoughtful and insightful content in the software industry with our blog posts, podcasts, books and guides. Those publications have also generated thousands of new leads for Intercom as we’ve rapidly grown our business. We’re now looking for a Content Marketing Specialist to join our team and help us take our content marketing to the next level.

In this role, you’ll be focused on making sure our content works harder and smarter for the business, reaching more readers and attracting more customers. You’ll be leading editorial projects, creating new processes and experimenting with content promotion as you help our team of editors create impactful lead-generating content.

You’ll oversee the creation of keyword-focused content and optimize our existing archive of material to help grow our organic search traffic on our flagship blog, Inside Intercom, which is recognized in the industry as a go-to source of invaluable information on customer support, marketing, sales, engineering, product, and design. You’ll also have the opportunity to lead our content promotion initiatives, grow our weekly newsletter and lead a range of other projects that will help attract potential customers to Intercom.

What will you be doing?

  • Collaborating with colleagues from across marketing and external agencies to help execute creative and impactful marketing campaigns.
  • You will be key to executing our SEO keyword strategy, conducting keyword research, creating content calendars for SEO material, and overseeing the work of creative agencies.
  • You will be refining our production processes and creating new workflows to ensure our content scales to match our fast-growing business needs.
  • Devising new and innovative ways to distribute our content, finding new ways to connect with our target market, such as by developing partnerships with external publishers.
  • Help teams across Intercom leverage our content, ensuring our work keeps working hard for the business in multiple formats and in multiple channels.
  • Helping to measure and analyze of our content performance, and deriving insights from the data to refine our content strategy.

What skills do I need?

  • 3+ years professional experience, with at least 1 year in a marketing role.
  • Proven project management skills with a keen eye for attention to detail.
  • Experience working on content-led marketing campaigns to generate leads and converts readers into customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to devise and implement successful keyword-driven content strategies to grow organic search traffic.
  • Proficient with WordPress, Google Docs, and project management tools.
  • Knowledge of B2B/B2C SaaS. You’ll know what the latest thinking is, who the influencers are, what the credible conferences are, etc.
  • You excel at collaborating with colleagues to get the job done and thoroughly enjoy being part of a team.
  • You thrive in ambiguous situations and love to build things from scratch.

Bonus skills & attributes

  • Knowledge of current customer support and customer engagement best practices, and experience creating content on this topic.
  • Extra bonus would be proficiency working with Coda, which we use to manage our content production process.
