About the role: Design, develop, and maintain microservices that power Kong Konnect, the Service Connectivity Platform. Working closely with Product Management and teams across Engineering, you will develop software that has a direct impact on our customers' business and Kong's success.
What you'll do:
- Implement and maintain services that power Konnect, mainly focus on the Gateway observability and diagnosability backend services
- Contribute to Kong's Cloud and Enterprise services
- Design and implement solutions to technical problems of moderate complexity
- Support those services in production by participating in an on-call rotation
- Write automated tests to ensure behavior of code and avoid regressions
- Collaborate with Kong Manager team, performance team and platform team to facilitate end-to-end delivery of new features
What you'll bring:
- 5+ years working in a team to develop, deliver, and maintain complex software solutions
- Expert understanding of Go programming language and experience in working on large scale Go codebase
- Experience designing, prototyping, building and debugging microservices architectures and distributed systems
- Experience baking in monitoring and observability into the code for availability, resilience and performance of the code
- Experience with object storage like S3 as well as streaming systems like Kafka
- Expertise in designing and writing APIs, and a firm grasp of API lifecycle management
- Experience developing and supporting a large scale SaaS platform; with working knowledge of containerization and Kubernetes
- Experience with public cloud providers like AWS, GCP or Azure
- Expertise with data modeling in relational databases and no-SQL databases
- Understanding of and development with git and Github workflows
- Expertise in test-driven development and automated testing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Bonus Points:
- Deep experience with Go; effective go standards
- Experience with NGINX/OpenResty/Kong/LuaJIT
- Experience with Datadog/OpenTelemetry
- Experience contributing to Open Source Software projects
- Experience with working or developing L4/L7 proxies such as Nginx, HA-proxy, Envoy, or others
- Experience with hybrid deployments and compatibility between schemas across versions
