Role Summary At Mistral, we’re not just designing products—we’re designing for positive outcomes, building AI that feels human, intuitive, and delightful. If you’re a designer at heart—independent, craft-obsessed, and excited to define the future of AI—let’s talk.
About Observability & AI Studio
We’re assembling our founding design team to redefine Observability for AI Studio—Mistral’s platform for building, deploying, and scaling AI applications. Observability isn’t just about monitoring; it’s about empowering developers, SREs, and platform engineers to understand, debug, and optimize their AI workloads with confidence and speed. If you’re a designer who thrives at the intersection of complex data, intuitive interfaces, and AI-assisted workflows, and you want to shape how the world observes and troubleshoots AI systems, let’s talk. What you will do- Design end-to-end experiences for Observability within AI Studio, from onboarding to advanced features.
- Prototype, iterate, and ship—fast. You’ll be hands-on, turning ideas into tangible experiences.
- Collaborate deeply with research, engineering, and product teams. Clear communication and a low ego are key.
- Contribute to our design system, ensuring consistency and craft (including motion design) across Mistral’s products.
- 7+ years of product design experience, with a focus on documentation, developer tools, or technical communication.
- Deeply curious about how people learn and use complex products. You ask “why?” until you understand the root problem.
- Systems thinker: You can design for scalability, consistency, and maintainability across a growing suite of products.
- UI/UX savvy: You understand how to design intuitive, user-friendly documentation interfaces, from layout to interaction.
- Visual communicator: You’re comfortable creating or art-directing graphics, diagrams, and other visual aids to simplify complex ideas (using tools like Figma, Illustrator, or AI-assisted design).
- Collaborative and proactive: You thrive in cross-functional teams and can drive projects forward with minimal oversight.
- Experience with:
- Designing developer-facing documentation (APIs, SDKs, tutorials, or technical guides).
- Technical writing or content design (a plus if you’ve worked with Markdown, Docusaurus, or similar tools).
- AI/ML concepts (familiarity with model deployment, inference, or cloud services is a bonus).
- Clear, concise, and empathetic communicator—you can explain technical topics to both experts and newcomers.
Founding team: Help build the culture, processes, and design language that will define Mistral’s infrastructure and Studio products for years.
Designing for good: Shape how the world interacts with AI and cloud computing—focusing on sovereignty, transparency, and user empowerment.
Zero-to-one impact: Design products from scratch, not incremental tweaks.
Builder energy: We’re all makers at heart, focused on shipping great experiences, not politics.
Our hiring process
- Portfolio review: Show us explorations and delivered work—we care about how you think, not just how it looks.
- Take-home challenge: A product-focused design exercise to see how you tackle problems.
- Team interviews: Chat with design, engineering, and leadership. We’re looking for collaborators, not egos.
- Culture fit: We want people who want to be here—who see Mistral as more than a job, but as a place to do their best work.
