The Maintenance team is responsible for minimizing equipment downtime, maintaining and improving process tooling, supporting the installation and commissioning of new equipment, and coordinating facility upgrades. The team also partners closely with machine manufacturers to address design, reliability, and performance concerns, as well as to implement equipment modifications and continuous improvement initiatives.
The Role
- As a Manufacturing Technician at MOO, you’ll be part of the East Providence maintenance team, responsible for preparing, configuring, and supporting a wide range of manufacturing equipment. In this role, you will work as a team member of the Maintenance team, diagnosing and resolving equipment issues that impact production performance and uptime. The Maintenance Technician will ensure that equipment, processes, are maintained, and operated so they run reliably and consistently across all operations.
The Person We Want
- Maintain configuration accuracy and operational integrity across all presses and finishing equipment
- Support press operators through coaching, troubleshooting, and reinforcing proper workflows
- Perform preventive and reactive maintenance tasks, assist with validation testing
- Identify and reduce downtime caused by recurring or unreported operator issues by escalating and documenting findings
- Capable of working autonomously on equipment while maintaining responsibility for routine reliability activities
As part of the maintenance team, consitently demonstrate the ability to stay focused on equipment condition, uptime, and corrective repair activities - Coach operators on proper machine use and maintenance basics, while documenting progress as required for accountability
Responsibilities
- Service Call
- Open service calls promptly when equipment issues exceed in house repair capability or require vendor support
- Document all relevant details at the time of the call, including symptoms, error codes, operator reports, and any troubleshooting already performed
- Track service call status from initiation through completion, ensuring timely follow up with vendors and internal stakeholders
- Communicate updates to affected departments, including expected response times, repair timelines, and any operational impacts
- Verify completion and resolution by confirming the equipment is fully operational, testing as needed, and closing the call with accurate final documentation
- Maintain service history records to support trend analysis, preventive maintenance planning
- Digital Presses
- Conduct high level PM's and record findings, be able to validate color management profiles to prevent drift and ensure consistent output
- Verify job orientations, exit configurations, and device specific settings are correct
- Provide technical support to operators by identifying and correcting issues that could impact production quality or uptime
- Laminators
- Perform service, preventive maintenance, and mechanical adjustments to ensure laminators operate within required specifications
- Set, verify, and enforce correct heat, tension, and speed parameters to maintain consistent lamination quality and prevent production defects
- Identify, diagnose, and repair equipment issues that may be hidden by operator workarounds, ensuring long term reliability rather than temporary fixes
- Provide operator coaching as needed, reinforcing proper machine setup, safe operation
- Verify inventory levels for critical parts, identify upcoming needs, and supply accurate part numbers for replacements to support timely procurement
- Guillotines / Rotary Die Cutters / Slitters
- Be able to verify and update cutting programs as needed across all units to ensure accuracy and consistency
Service, PM, utilize service manuals and troubleshoot machines independently or in a team setting - Folders
- Service, PM, be able to verify standard fold settings and verify proper configuration for each job type.
Calibrate and be able to correct presets, guides - Wide Format Presses
- Troubleshoot, service and perform corrective maintenance and configuration checks
- As needed support operator training on color workflows, machine operation, and issue identification
- Adjust, verify and be able to bring equipment into OEM tolerances
- Wide Format Cutting Equipment
- Verify maintenance, adjust calibration as needed, and cut validation testing are completed on schedule and documented appropriately
- Assist operators as needed with workflow setup, troubleshooting, and proper machine operation to ensure consistent, accurate cutting performance
- Web Presses & Finishing Equipment
- Troubleshoot, service and corrective maintenance as required. Be able to verify configuration settings are correct for production needs
- As needed support operators on color workflows, machine operation, and minor troubleshooting
Be able to validate equipment performance against OEM machine tolerances - Laser Systems
- Troubleshoot, service and corrective maintainance as needed on the machine
- As needed support operator training, coduct routine maintenance, and technical troubleshooting
- Manufacturing Support
- Maintenance and manufacturing on production lane setup.
- Audit manufacturing operations and setups to identify support needs, gaps, and follow up training
- Document training activities and maintain operator competency records
- Provide ongoing operator training related to equipment setup, configuration, and issue resolution
About You
- Experience in manufacturing or production:
You have hands on experience working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, where you’ve followed established procedures, troubleshot equipment, and helped ensure production targets are consistently met through resolution of machine issues - Mechanical aptitude:
You’re skilled in working with machines, tools, and mechanical systems. You can quickly diagnose issues, perform adjustments, troubleshoot both minor and major equipment problems with confidence, and know when to escalate or seek additional technical support. - Attention to detail:
You bring a sharp eye for precision, ensuring equipment is configured correctly, safety standards are met, and every setup supports high quality, reliable production output. You can identify and clearly communicate opportunities to improve equipment reliability and process efficiency - Communication:
You are able to clearly communicate technical issues and procedures to others with a range of capabilities, including detailed explanations of issues to technical experts as part of troubleshooting and improvements, as well as simple explanations to non-technical resources to ensure problem resolution, effective corrective actions, and ongoing training - Preferred:
Experience in printing, finishing, or other equipment intensive production environments is a strong plus
Nice to Haves
- Experience with automation systems, sensors, or basic PLC troubleshooting
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, or wiring diagrams
- Background working with conveyors, digital presses, finishing equipment, or other automated machinery
- Experience using CMMS or preventive maintenance programs
- Mechanical Engeering Degree or similar experience in a manufacturing setting
