We are notonthehighstreet.

We’re home to 5,000 phenomenal small creative businesses that we are proud to call our Partners.  But, now more than ever, this community needs our support.  So we’re doing all we can to shine a light on these dynamic entrepreneurs, waving the flag for small businesses and generally championing their socks off.

On top of our brilliant Partners, products and customers (not to mention our incredible team who have been busy beavering away from home since March), the last 12 months has seen  great progress with our tech platform and customer experience. We are now looking to build on this momentum to drive our business to the next level. And that’s where you come in.

The opportunity...

This is a career defining opportunity to join an ambitious and scaling private equity backed business as it embarks on the next phase of growth. This role will be suited to someone looking for a broad and varied finance role to support in their progression towards FD or CFO.

Alongside the CFO, you will help develop the core finance function, the processes and associated ways of working to support the new group structure and future growth of the company.

What we need...

As our Financial Controller, you will be technically minded but with a strong desire to understand the commercial aspects of the business, supporting the CFO and other key stakeholders to stay one step ahead as the business scales. You will be used to working in a fast paced environment, passionate about learning and adapting, and able to apply yourself to new situations as they arise.

You will have strong leadership skills and a proven track record of building and developing an outstanding and engaged team.

You will have full ownership of the day to day running of the core finance function, continuing to build robust and efficient processes and systems with best practice controls, fit for the future.

Reporting into the CFO, and working closely with the Commercial Finance Team, you will be the custodian of the numbers, producing accurate and timely reporting, with detailed understanding of the drivers of those results. Good communication skills are essential, as is a desire to progress in our fast-paced environment.

  • What you’ll be doing...

  • Full month end ownership and maintenance of the general ledger and reporting software
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts, variance analysis and shareholder reporting

  • Leading the audit and ensuring we meet the statutory requirements across the group structure
  • Designing and embedding the processes required to effectively manage the group structure
  • Overseeing the preparation of VAT returns, reviewing corporation tax return prepared by 3rd party accountants, overseeing R&D claim
  • Ownership of banking relationships, ongoing cash flow management and future liquidity requirements
  • Responsible for the risk register and procurement
  • Accounting treatment of various share schemes
  • Advising or leading on projects as the business scales
  • Some key skills and experience you’ll need...

  • You have experience in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
  • You have strong Excel knowledge
  • You are able to deal with a variety of different stakeholders and ways of working
  • You are happy to get your hands dirty
  • You are comfortable delegating to a competent team and not micro-managing
  • You are a good communicator
  • You are organised, detail oriented
  • You are able to explain complex concepts in simple language

… and something more about you:

  • You are adaptable and comfortable in a rapidly changing environment
  • You have a can-do attitude
  • You are a good coach and mentor - always supportive of your team
  • You have a strong accounting background

Our perks

It’s important to us that our people are well looked after, which is why we offer everyone BUPA healthcare, life insurance and a pension plan. Because having a break is important for your physical and mental wellbeing, our holiday allowance is 25 days (plus bank holidays) AND your entitlement increases an extra day for every 2 years you spend with us.

The team spirit at NOTHS House is legendary, and while we all miss the in-office massages, hair cuts and the abundance of free fruit, we’ve taken to our virtual world with gusto and bring the team together regularly for online socials!

We endeavour to support our people to make sure work….well, works for them. And the pretty big issue of the recent global pandemic has propelled us into working more flexibly than ever before. With the office closed until further notice (at least until government social distancing advice has changed), we’re using the lessons learnt over this period to evolve our approach to flexible working whilst ensuring we all still get together as one #teamnoths

Diversity and Inclusion

Everyone’s welcome at notonthehighstreet – whoever they are, wherever their background.

We endeavor to support our people to make sure work….well, works for them. And the pretty big issue of the recent global pandemic has propelled us into working more flexibly than ever before. With the office reopening in October (YAY!), we’re using the lessons learnt over this period to evolve our approach to flexible working, and we’ve introduced a 2:3 hybrid working week. So the NOTHS team get to work flexibly for the majority of the week and visit beautiful Richmond once or twice a week to ensure we all still get together as one #teamnoths. Plus, as of 2022 we’ll begin trialing fully remote months in January (to avoid the snow) and August (to enjoy the sun).

Apply to join #teamnoths

We’d love to hear more about you, your experience and why you’d like to join our team.

For now, our recruitment and induction processes are fully remote, taking advantage of the wonders of modern-day technology. If you are successful in your initial application we’ll explain more about next steps, as this can vary slightly from role to role. Good luck!
