We are seeking a seasoned Compliance & Risk Officer to establish and lead a robust compliance and risk management framework for SEI footprint in India. Our presence in India includes in-house staff in SEI India, a recently opened and growing GCC being built with a partner in Hyderabad, and several third-party engagements across India. This role is primarily responsible for ensuring adherence to Indian laws and regulations, regulatory registrations, vendor compliance across India, and alignment with global compliance standards. The role will foster a strong culture of compliance and risk awareness across our India footprint, ensuring that regulatory obligations, data handling, governance, and risk management practices are embedded into daily operations to support sustainable growth.
The India Compliance & Risk Officer would have dual or matrix reporting into the India GCC General Manager and the Global Head of Compliance & Risk with a hard line reporting to the India organization. The role encompasses oversight of offshored activities, processes, systems, vendors, and data, ensuring compliance with applicable local, regional and global regulatory requirements.
What will you do:
Compliance Leadership & Governance
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliance programs aligned with Indian regulatory requirements, international best practices and SEI’s global compliance framework.
- Monitor evolving applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory obligations relevant to the GCC, assessing impact and driving timely updates to policies, procedures, and controls.
- Oversee local regulatory registrations, licenses, filings, and statutory obligations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and ongoing compliance.
- Act as the primary compliance liaison for India‑based regulators, auditors, and external advisors, in coordination with global Legal and Compliance teams.
- Drive compliance awareness and training initiatives across all levels of the organization.
- Support the maintenance of global regulatory registries, legal entity records, and compliance attestations related to operations.
- Review, assess, and advise on policy exception requests, ensuring appropriate documentation, risk awareness, and governance approvals.
- Ensure compliance policies and standards are clearly communicated, accessible, and understood across the GCC.
- Keep employees informed of compliance‑related changes through targeted communications and updates.
Risk Management
- Compliance‑related and operational risks impacting SEI India & GCC activities, including regulatory, third‑party, and reputational risks.
- Collaborate with business units and functional leaders to embed risk awareness into compliance processes and day‑to‑day operations.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans tailored as they relate to regulatory exposure and vendor operations.
- Oversee enterprise risk assessments and present findings to senior leadership.
- Ensure integration of compliance and risk frameworks to support sustainable business growth.

What we need from you:
- Bachelor’s degree in law, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory affairs, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of GCC regulatory landscape, including financial, corporate governance, and anti-money laundering frameworks.
- Proven ability to design and implement compliance programs in complex, multi-jurisdictional environments.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
What we would like from you:
- Strong knowledge of banking/financial regulatory compliance, compliance testing, auditing, financial principals and regulatory issues
- Familiarity with local and state compliance laws and regulations
- Ability to perform longer-term, project-based work, while still executing on the task-based elements the role
- Capacity to fully execute on responsibilities with a high degree of independence while exhibiting sound judgment
- An advanced understanding of the function you support and a growing understanding of SEI overall and the competitive environment in which it operates
- Demonstrated ability to function in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment while managing multiple and diverse responsibilities
- Excellent judgment and decision-making skills; ability to analyze and respond to issues
- Excellent research abilities as well as verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of all Microsoft applications (Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Impactful presentations skills with a demonstrated ability to effect change.
LOCATION:
- The position will be based in Hyderabad, India, at the GCC location
- The selected candidate will need to commit to establish residence in Hyderabad within 6 months, if not already a resident of that city
- Routine Travel may be required to locations within India and to global SEI locations
- Candidate should be eligible to obtain visa to facilitate such travel as necessary
