SEI is seeking a senior attorney to serve as Senior Director, Privacy and Data Governance, leading SEI’s global Privacy and Data Governance function within the Legal, Compliance, Risk and Corporate Development group. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, this role has enterprise-wide responsibility for privacy, data governance standards, and oversight of data-related legal and regulatory requirements applicable to SEI and its regulated subsidiaries.

What you will do:
  • Lead SEI’s global privacy and data governance function, establishing enterprise strategy, priorities, and governance frameworks across all regions and business units.
  • Serve as SEI’s internal legal subject matter expert on privacy, data protection, data governance, artificial intelligence, and emerging data-related laws and regulations.
  • Build, lead, and develop a global team advising the organization on appropriate data governance standards, including lawful data use, data classification, retention, access, quality, and accountability.
  • Work closely with SEI’s Chief Data Officer and the Head of Technology Risk to support and implement SEI’s strategic vision for enterprise data governance within applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the development, review, and governance of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and similar privacy risk assessments for new products, services, systems, data uses, and AI-enabled initiatives.
  • Lead enterprise data mapping and records-of-processing activities from a legal and governance perspective, ensuring accurate documentation of data types, uses, locations, flows, and third-party sharing.
  • Provide legal oversight of SEI’s document and data retention and destruction policies to ensure alignment with regulatory retention requirements, contractual obligations, and privacy-by-design principles.
  • Advise on the lawful use of personal and regulated data in accordance with applicable laws, regulatory requirements, privacy notices, and contractual commitments to clients, vendors, and business partners.
  • Ensure data sharing, cross-border transfers, vendor access, and third-party data use are structured and governed in a legally compliant and defensible manner.
  • Oversee core privacy program operations, including data inventories, individual and data-subject rights processes, privacy incident response, and remedial actions.
  • Establish governance processes to ensure privacy and data governance decisions are appropriately documented, approved, and auditable.
  • Develop and deliver executive-level communications and employee training to promote accountability and responsible data stewardship across SEI.
What we need from you:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Significant experience leading global privacy and data governance programs in a complex or regulated organization.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. and international privacy and data protection laws and regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience advising on enterprise data governance and emerging AI and data-related regulatory issues.
  • Strong leadership, judgment, and executive communication skills.
