Position Description:

Specialist II, Risk will report to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) providing support in operating and embedding the firm’s risk management framework across the Fund Administration and Depositary companies. The role provides second line oversight, challenge, and reporting on key risks (including operational, conduct, outsourcing, regulatory and client risks), ensuring risks are identified, assessed, monitored, reported and escalated in line with the firm’s risk appetite, regulatory obligations and client commitments. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the development of the risk framework in an established and growing fund service provider.

What you’ll do:

  • Maintain and enhance the local risk framework, including risk appetite, build out of the risk and control assessment (RCSA), key risk indicators (KRIs), incident management, and escalation protocols.

  • Facilitate and quality-review RCSAs across Fund Administration and Depositary functions, ensuring clear articulation of inherent/residual risk, control design and operating effectiveness, and action plans with accountable owners and dates.

  • Oversee operational risk event capture, root-cause analysis and remediation tracking; challenge closure evidence and assess whether control improvements adequately reduce risk.

  • Design, implement and monitor KRIs and dashboards (including thresholds and triggers) and deliver timely management information (MI) to the CRO, and relevant committees as needed.

  • Draft and maintain risk policies, procedures and committee papers; prepare content for board reporting and client due diligence responses (DDQs/RFPs) relating to risk management and controls.

  • Support regulatory engagements and thematic reviews by coordinating evidence packs, tracking requests, and ensuring actions are owned, prioritised and completed.

  • Promote a strong risk culture by delivering training, coaching first line stakeholders, and embedding consistent risk terminology and standards across teams.

  • Support the CRO in running the Management Risk Committee, including agenda planning, coordinating inputs, preparing packs, tracking actions, and documenting minutes and decisions.

  • Support the CRO with the Risk Champion programme, including role clarity, onboarding/training content, cadence of forums, communications, and tracking engagement and actions.

  • Represent the Risk Function at internal committee meetings and business meetings as needed

What you bring to the table:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a risk, control, or audit role, within asset servicing, fund administration, depositary/custody, asset management, or financial services.

  • Strong understanding of operational risk concepts (RCSA, KRI/KPI design, incident management, root-cause analysis, control testing/assurance, risk appetite, action tracking).

  • Good working knowledge of fund structures and servicing models (e.g. UCITS, AIFs, ICAVs, common service lines such as fund accounting, NAV oversight, transfer agency, investor servicing, and delegated operating models).

  • Comfortable producing clear, evidence-based MI for senior stakeholders and committees; able to translate complex operational issues into concise risk narratives.

  • Experience with risk systems, workflow tools, or MI/BI tooling (e.g., Power BI) is advantageous.

  • Third level qualification in Business, Finance, Risk, Law, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience). (Desirable)

  • Professional risk qualifications or equivalent risk/audit credentials (Desirable).

Attributes we value:

  • Independent challenge: confidence to probe, test assumptions and escalate, while maintaining constructive relationships.

  • Judgement and prioritisation: able to focus on what matters most and differentiate symptoms from root causes.

  • Delivery mindset: works at pace, meets deadlines, and drives outcomes across multiple stakeholders.

  • Continuous improvement: identifies ways to simplify, standardise and strengthen controls and reporting.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and attention to detail

  • Strong Organisational and administrative skills
