About the opportunity
This role sits within our Regional Finance team in Hamburg, reporting directly to the Head of Finance, DACH & Netherlands. Sourced at the intersection of Commercial Finance, Financial Reporting, and Finance Transformation, our team is responsible for managing financial decision support and reporting across a portfolio of more than 15 legal entities. You will collaborate daily with Regional Managing Directors, Sales Leaders, and Central FP&A teams to solve complex commercial challenges and drive smarter ways of working.
- Core Mission: Act as the strategic analytical partner to the Head of Finance - translating regional financial data into actionable commercial insights and modernizing reporting capabilities.
- Team Alignment: Partner closely with Regional Managing Directors, Sales Leadership, Accounting, and central finance functions to streamline business performance and support high-level decisions.
- Scope of Ownership: Take full accountability for regional management reporting packages, commission calculations, rebate operations, and financial model transformations.
- Impact Metric: Success in this role means successfully automating manual reporting frameworks, optimizing the regional sales commission flow, and directly increasing the Finance team's commercial partnering capacity over the next 12 months.
What will you do?
Strategy & Innovation
- Drive Finance Transformation: Orchestrate the automation and standardization of regional performance reporting by utilizing modern modeling techniques and emerging AI technologies.
- Redesign Complex Models: Re-architect legacy Excel models into scalable, automated reporting solutions built on structured data principles.
- Evaluate Emerging Tech: Proactively identify and recommend practical AI or RPA tools to streamline monthly closes and increase the strategic value Finance delivers to business stakeholders.
- Support Financial Planning: Build robust business cases, scenario-modeling frameworks, and ad hoc commercial analyses to support regional strategic initiatives and pricing decisions.
Execution & Flawless Delivery
- Own Regional Management Reporting: Manage and deliver the monthly regional performance reporting packages and KPI dashboards (including KAM and STA target tracking).
- Deliver Variance Commentary: Prepare detailed Budget vs. Forecast vs. Actual variance analyses using Planful and Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), translating data trends into clear management commentary.
- Support the Financial Close: Run structured analytical reviews of P&Ls and Balance Sheets during the monthly close to ensure commercial accuracy.
- Lead Commissions & Rebates: Direct the regional sales commission calculation process (including data validation and accrual support) and manage agency rebate calculations, reconciliations, and deal tracking.
- Maintain Version Control: Ensure all model documentation, version control, and data integrity parameters are strictly preserved across systems.
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Partner with Commercial Leaders: Provide high-impact analytical support and recommendations to Managing Directors and Sales Leaders to optimize regional pricing, customer rebates, and profitability.
- Bridge Central & Local Teams: Act as the key financial facilitator, translating regional commercial developments into clear financial analysis and reporting for local and central accounting teams.
- Investigate Financial Trends: Collaborate across Sales, Commercial Operations, and Product teams to proactively analyze regional customer performance and profitability.
What will you bring to the team?
Must-Haves
- Core Experience: Approximately 3-5 years of experience in Commercial Finance, Financial Analysis, Business Controlling, Audit, or Financial Controlling.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Technical Expertise: Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (including hands-on Power Query, dynamic arrays, PivotTables, and financial modeling).
- System Acumen: Solid experience working with ERP platforms (such as Microsoft Dynamics 365) and financial planning tools (such as Planful, Adaptive, or equivalent).
- Language Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and German.
- Location/Legalities: Right to work in Germany without future visa sponsorship requirements.
Nice-to-Haves
- Prior experience navigating financial operations within an international, matrix-structured business.
- Demonstrated understanding of sales commission modeling, rebate accounting, and commercial deal tracking.
- A strong passion for process improvement, automation, and building scalable reporting systems.
- Familiarity with leveraging AI and automation techniques to augment analytical processes.
Bonus Points
- You have previously led a system migration or reporting integration following an acquisition or company merger.
- You are highly skilled in utilizing advanced generative AI applications or scripting (such as Python or SQL) to automate repetitive data flows.
