Patreon is a media and community platform where creators give their biggest fans access to exclusive work and experiences. Over 300k creators are cultivating fandoms and building their businesses each month. Creators can offer free memberships to fans looking to explore more of their work, paid memberships to give access to exclusive media and community, or sell directly to fans with Shops.

Ultimately our goal is simple: fund the creative class. And we're leaders in that space, with:

  • 8B+ earned since Patreon's inception
  • 30M free new memberships in the first year of launching that option, and
  • 10M fans paying each month for exclusive access to creators' work and community.

We're continuing to invest heavily in building the best creator products with the best team in the creator economy and are looking for a Machine Learning Engineering Intern to support our mission

This internship will be a 12-week long summer program (May - September 2025) hosted in our San Francisco and New York offices and open to those who are able to be in-office 2 days per week on a hybrid work model.

About the Role

What you will do:

  • You’ll ship a real-world feature that directly impacts the creator economy and helps turn your favorite creator's passion into a living. Potential projects include training ranking models for search and recommendations, optimizing notifications, building new features for our creator and content taxonomies, and more!
  • You’ll be part of a great team. You’ll be embedded into a world-class engineering team, working alongside fellow engineers, product managers, designers, and data scientists to make your feature a success.
  • You’ll learn a lot. In the spirit of Win Together, we’ll pair you with one of our experienced engineers to mentor and guide you as you ramp up and work through all the technical challenges of your internship project.
  • You’ll have fun. Besides shipping a great product and partaking in Patreon's Intern Summit, you’ll experience San Francisco or New York City during your summer internship alongside your intern cohort!

About You

  • Currently pursuing a PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical degree (e.g. Math, Physics, Bioinformatics)
  • Solid technical knowledge of CS fundamentals, data structures and machine learning
  • Experience using Python for large scale data processing
  • Willingness to learn and incorporate feedback
  • Passion for Patreon and working with Creators
