Pilot is a tech company building the bookkeeping firm you wish existed. We deliver books and a customer experience of unparalleled quality by automating the boring stuff and equipping a team of finance experts with software superpowers to deftly handle the rest.

The team

We are a small but passionate team of 230+ based in San Francisco and Nashville. Pilot’s seasoned founding team has led companies through two prior successful startups and acquisitions (by Oracle and Dropbox). We give our employees a lot of responsibility and ownership of their work, and we hire people from a very wide range of backgrounds and experience. Our team members operate with a high degree of empathy for our customers and each other.

The role

Objectives

  • Build the trust of, and partner with, business leaders and managers in support of People strategy and objectives
  • Deliver on business-critical People initiatives and projects
  • Successfully balance conflicting interests and priorities, negotiations with stakeholders, and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Embrace diversity and openness to new ideas, and applying commercial-savvy People intervention practices to an evolving organization

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be an advocate for Pilot’s culture and values
  • Be a dedicated business partner to help align and execute on our people strategy that directly supports Pilot’s business objectives
  • Coach and develop employees at all levels within the organization from individual contributors to senior leaders
  • Partner with the broader People team to deliver a high-quality employee experience
  • Develop and drive strategies to attract, develop, engage and retain strong and diverse talent.
  • Partner with managers and leaders to build, launch, and lead company or org-wide people programs and initiatives such as DE&I programs, performance review cycles, and employee engagement surveys
  • Partner with managers and leaders on org design, performance management, and employee relations issues
  • Be an expert & thought leader in industry best practices around functional areas of new trends and opportunities to constantly raise the bar on HR deliverables
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Experience and Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience as an HR Business Partner and minimum 2  years of relevant experience preferably in a high growth tech environment Required
  • Strong HR expertise and the ability to build credibility and trust
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills; you have a point of view on people-related topics and you are able to build meaningful relationships with employees at all levels across the organization
  • Empathetic and employee-focused approach: you care deeply about people
  • Ability to think strategically while also having the ability to execute on short-term needs
  • Excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to analyze data, understand trends and develop recommendations for action plans.
  • Proactive and comfortable with ambiguity and autonomy, you enjoy figuring out what needs to be done and then will do it
