DPX sits within the org that builds the infrastructure powering the Plaid network, including managing the critical surfaces and lifecycles for the financial institutions that power the ecosystem. DPX is responsible for everything from initial onboarding, to API integration, and long-term sustainability, ensuring that every partner has a seamless, high-quality experience that translates into value for millions of end users in the Plaid network. Our work directly impacts Plaid's data quality, partner satisfaction, and the speed at which new institutions come online. We're a small, high-impact team with ambitious goals: 20x growth in partner adoption, 10x faster onboarding, and proactive alerting across all partner types. As the Engineering Manager for DPX, you'll lead a team of engineers building the products and platform that data partners use to manage their integrations with Plaid. The role requires a blend of technical depth, strategic thinking, and cross-functional leadership to scale partner-facing products from early-stage concepts to industry-leading infrastructure. This is a role where you'll have significant autonomy: you're the dedicated EM for DPX, reporting to the Eng Lead for the entire org.
Responsibilities:
- Own technical execution and delivery for the DPX roadmap, including the Data Partner Dashboard, onboarding redesign, health monitoring, and migration tooling.
- Manage and grow a team of engineers across multiple locations.
- Partner with PM and cross-functional teams (Solutions Engineering, Data Partnerships, Data Partner Support) to align on priorities and unblock execution.
- Drive engineering quality: code reviews, design reviews, architectural decisions, reliability standards.
- Hire and develop engineers.
- Establish team processes and norms.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of engineering experience, with 1.5 to 2 years managing engineering teams.
- Experience shipping customer-facing or partner-facing products.
- Strong systems design and architectural judgment.
- Track record of growing engineers and building team culture.
- Excellent communication skills, especially with non-engineering partners.
- Bonus: experience with API platforms, developer tooling, fintech, or partner ecosystems.
