About the team:

This is a brand-new team within crypto. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be leading and building the distributed systems and infrastructure that power our core crypto products. We strive for a high standard of engineering quality while solving unique scalability challenges.

This person will provide a specialization within the team focused on designing, engineering, evolving, and safely making changes to large-scale distributed systems; these systems are often composed of disparate components which are each individually complex. In the process of that work, they are also responsible for analyzing, repairing, and preventing unexpected issues that emerge from such systems.

What you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Contribute to projects in security, blockchain technology, and distributed systems.
  • Contribute to major crypto services involving full nodes, wallets, and validators.
  • Combine software and systems knowledge to engineer high-volume distributed systems in a reliable, scalable, and fault-tolerant manner.
  • Continually optimize systems and workflows by improving architecture, infrastructure, automation, CI/CD, and observability.
  • Lead, build, test, and release large scale systems within the Crypto team, making the right tradeoffs for risk and long-term maintainability.

  • Act as an owner and leader of our crypto product’s infrastructure by ensuring project infrastructure needs are met and working proactively to help them improve reliability and efficiency.

About you:

  • Experience building and running blockchain full nodes.
  • Experience building and running blockchain wallets.
  • Knowledge of cryptocurrencies protocols and standard methodologies in blockchain management.
  • Experience authoring and operating high-scale services.
  • Experience with scalable distributed systems, either built from scratch or on public Cloud (e.g. AWS) primitives.
  • Willingness to learn and use new technologies, and to learn the ins-and-outs of the financial system.

Bonus points:

  • Previous work in a blockchain related company.
  • Familiarity of Python/Django or Go
  • Experience with high-growth startups
  • Strong open source contributions

  • Container and container orchestration technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Microservice-oriented architectures and related OSS technologies (e.g. Kafka, Celery/RabbitMQ, nginx, Redis, Postgres, Airflow, Consul, etc.)
  • Cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, GCP)
  • Linux internals and network configuration and protocols
  • Infrastructure as Code and configuration management (Terraform, SaltStack)
