About the team + role

The Application Security team’s mission is to design, build and operate solutions (often in other existing platforms) that provide higher level abstractions to ensure a paved path for engineers or guardrails to course correct security vulnerabilities earlier in the SDLC. The domain spreads across application security, cloud security and privacy engineering.

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will build and lead the Application Security team within Security Engineering. In this role you will enable the firm to build and deploy secure applications. A successful Application Security manager will possess a deep understanding of both information security and software engineering and have experience leading a team of engineers from diverse disciplines, including highly technical security and software engineers. They should have experience deploying and managing large security programs across the company to drive meaningful improvements

What you’ll do

  • You will hire, coach, and mentor exceptional engineers and foster an inclusive environment that helps us unlock our full potential.
  • Creating and implementing the technical strategy and roadmap for secure applications, cloud, and robust privacy engineering platforms at Robinhood.
  • Defining and tracking operational metrics, key performance indicators, and service level objectives to continually improve the efficacy and reliability of security services and controls.
  • You will build relationships with security leaders at Robinhood to ensure that capabilities are effective, instrumented, and meet the needs of our business.

What you bring

  • 7+ years' experience in security or software engineering
  • 3+ years' experience leading and developing engineers
  • You have experience defining, delivering, and operating large scale cloud or security services
  • You have a track record of hiring engineers, with an ability to identify extraordinary talent
  • You are an excellent communicator and are comfortable discussing complex technical concepts with engineers and partners at any role or level

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. This role is also eligible to participate in a Robinhood bonus plan and Robinhood’s equity plan. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
