Senior Network Infrastructure Planner/Designer

Fastly is looking for a Senior Network Infrastructure Planner/Designer to work on infrastructure and capacity planning efforts. We’re looking for someone that is passionate about collecting and analyzing data from different sources related to network performance and growth and identifying trends and needs. This role will lead the efforts to create Fastly’s network bandwidth capacity plan and contribute to the infrastructure build plan. This role provides the opportunity to interact with the Product, Engineering and Infrastructure teams to drive the decisions about infrastructure projects.

What You'll Do

  • Monitor and analyze traffic patterns and network performance data as well as network health indicators
  • Collect demand information from Sales and Product
  • Create demand and capacity forecasts
  • Lead the construction of the Network Bandwidth Capacity plan based on the data analysis and traffic forecasts
  • Contribute to the construction of the Build Plan
  • Contribute to the analysis for potential new POPs
  • Provide capacity verifications for potential new business.
  • Interact with other teams to create and improve the processes and tools needed for capacity planning
  • Contribute to the new POPs and augment design.

What We're Looking For

Basic Qualifications:

  • You have 5+ years of experience in network planning and/or program management associated with network infrastructure projects.
  • You have 5+ years of experience working with cross-functional teams related to network planning and/or construction.
  • You have a deep understanding of the main internet technologies and protocols (BGP, DNs, Anycast).
  • You have experience analyzing network performance and indicators.
  • You have experience in preparing and delivering presentations to multiple stakeholders and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience planning OTT or CDN infrastructure
  • 3+ Experience with peering, IXs and IP transit connectivity.
  • Experience with financial analysis for network projects
  • Experience working with commercial and product teams for technical capacity validation.

Work Hours:

  • This position will require you to be available during core business hours.

This position is a HYBRID role and open to the following office locations:

  • San Francisco, CA
  • Denver, CO
  • New York, NY

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.

This position may require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager.

Salary:

The estimated salary range for this position is $109,240 to $264,220

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
