To support our growth and growing demand in the UK, we are looking for a Product Owner who is eager to change the UK accounting landscape. Silverfin is a cloud-first solution that enables accountants to streamline significant parts of their workload and spend more time on value-adding activities. We focus on the post-bookkeeping work done by accounting firms including Accounts Production, Corporation Tax and Working Papers. Role Description As a Product Owner at Silverfin, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of experienced professionals to deliver high-quality products that improve accountants' working experience. You will be responsible for supporting the Senior Product Manager and the Product team, in executing and delivering specific projects. Your role will involve applying your knowledge of UK accounting standards and best practices to write functional requirements and translate high-level project definitions into actionable tasks for the development team. You will work closely with technology teams to ensure clear requirements and propose process changes as needed. Serve as a knowledgeable support resource for users, promptly addressing inquiries about product functionality while carefully identifying, documenting, and escalating any bugs or technical issues to ensure a seamless user experience. You will also have the chance to spot opportunities in the market and make the case to add these to the product roadmap. Listening to customers on a regular basis to validate assumptions that were made and developing new ideas will also be part of your role. To be successful in this role, you will need excellent communication skills to collaborate with all stakeholders, including external (customers, users) and internal (senior product managers, general managers, developers, marketing, customer success and first-line support). This will need to be combined with strong accounting technical skills to ensure that our products meet accountants' needs and regulatory requirements. You will also need to be proactive in identifying and solving problems and work iteratively to improve the product. At Silverfin, we value transparency and constructive communication. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver roadmap items as aligned with the Senior Product Manager
- Work closely together with technology teams (product developers, AI team, engineering, etc.) to make sure requirements and dependencies are clear
- Stay informed about changes in UK accounting standards and tax legislation to ensure our product can be relied upon by our customers, researching requirements when needed
- Communicate with all stakeholders to make the delivery of the product transparent to the whole organisation, avoiding surprisesListen to customers, spotting opportunities to help them ease their pain points
- Communicate with users about releases and share knowledge on the new or updated functionality
- Provide support on user's queries as a product and accounting expert
Your Profile
- You have a strong technical accounting background (ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent experience)
- You may want to make a jump from practice into the product/technical side of the software industry, no prior product-based experience is needed but you have a desire to get stuck in and learn the skills needed for the job
- You have an interest in accounting standards, you know your IFRS 16 (Leases) from your FRS 102 and enjoy delving into the details of upcoming changes
- You are a confident communicator, who enjoys working with different internal teams and stakeholders
- You enjoy speaking to users to gain insights about how our software performs in their day-to-day work.
- You want to use your knowledge and skills to enhance our Silverfin platform by building tools to help other accountants.
- You are proficient in data analytics and Excel
