It’s an exciting time to join Tactile. We're a diverse team of storytellers, puzzle enthusiasts and casual mobile game creators. Our story began in 2008 in the heart of beautiful Copenhagen, and since then we have experienced continuous growth, establishing ourselves as one of the largest gaming companies in Denmark. In more recent years, we have been scaling fast, in big part thanks to the success of a little game called Lily’s Garden. Now we’re on a mission to solidify our position as one of the leaders in creating out-of-the-ordinary casual puzzle games.
With more than 300 talented individuals, we are a mix of over 40 nationalities and 43% women. We truly appreciate the richness of different experiences and perspectives that Tactilers bring to the game. This is why we foster a lean organisational culture, in which each individual is encouraged to take responsibility, be open and grow in their own way. We pride ourselves in cultivating a studio environment that stays away from crunch, that fosters your skills no matter what your discipline is, and one that gives you a place to be creative alongside other passionate and invested storytellers.
Your role & impact:
We’re expanding our Gameboard Team for Lily’s Garden and looking for a Lead Gameboard Artist to elevate the visual experience of our core gameplay, our puzzle levels, while leading a team in creating best-in-class art assets. In this role, you’ll own and shape the artistic vision, establish and refine visual standards, and be directly involved in creating, animating, and implementing art that resonates with our players.
Let’s get a bit more specific. Here’s what you’ll be doing on the day-to-day as a Lead Gameboard Artist within our Gameboard Team for Lily’s Garden:
- You’ll lead the visual design of all areas of art relating to our level gameplay, ensuring they’re engaging, visually appealing, and aligned with the game’s overall art style. You’ll be expected to set and push visual standards, creating an industry-leading visual experience.
- You’ll design, animate, and implement 2D in-game assets (like board pieces, blockers, boosters, and VFX) through the entire pipeline, ensuring they’re both visually engaging and functionally seamless.
- You’ll partner closely with level designers to bring new mechanics to life visually, iterating from concept to implementation and aligning aesthetics with gameplay needs.
- You’ll mentor and guide other artists on the team by providing constructive feedback, supporting professional growth, and ensuring adherence to best practices.
What we’re looking for:
- You’ve gathered relevant experience within casual, puzzle games over the years and feel very comfortable creating stylized, cartoony game art (please make sure to illustrate this by sharing your public portfolio link or private folder with work samples).
- You’re skilled in concepting, illustrating, animating, and implementing casual mobile game assets, from initial ideation to the final integrated art asset.
- You’re familiar with 3D modeling, particularly workflows involving 3D-to-2D overpainting.
- You’re experienced in implementing art within Unity and familiar with best practices for integration and performance.
- You’re constantly tuned into game art trends and eager to innovate and find new ways to enhance player satisfaction visually.
- You’re able to share ideas clearly, lead discussions, and proactively drive improvements to reach your team’s goals.
- You’re experienced in identifying pipeline improvements and confident in driving discussions to ensure alignment and commitment to best practices.
You'll make us extra excited if:
- You have experience working on gameboard graphics for casual puzzle games.
- You have prior experience leading a team of artists and providing mentorship.
- You have a background in animation or VFX for added visual impact.
- You’re familiar with AI tools to help streamline iteration and support the art pipeline.
