A bit about the role

As Wise continues to grow, we need to grow our finance capabilities to:

  • Help pilot the rocket ship. Controller capabilities are essential to steer the ship in the right direction, ensuring we comply with accounting, regulatory and tax requirements.
  • Work with Group Financial Controller, Regional Controllers, Reporting & Tax teams to ensure financial compliance, including controlling local audits, outsource firms and financial regulatory relationships.
  • Be the regional team’s (Expansion, Compliance, Product & People)  main point of finance contact in ensuring that all new entities, products, legislation etc are understood and finance is prepared for all changes, ensuring the customer product is understood and optimised for growth.
  • Work with finance teams (Finance Product team (software engineers) and Group
  • Accounting to ensure systems, controls and processes are prepared for regional requirements, with clear definitions and change management.
  • Review monthly and quarterly financials to ensure all accuracy of your entities.

A bit about you

What you’ll be doing:

  • You’ll lead the conversation with analysts and investors to ensure a sound understanding and support of our mission
  • You’ll work with other senior leaders to shape the story of Wise, underpinning this with relevant key messages, and disclosure of strategic and financial information
  • Work with colleagues on the design and production of effective publications and presentations for periodic reporting to the market including the Annual Report, slide decks and scripts.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with the sell-side analyst community, actively managing expectations to ensure that the market consensus remains relevant relative to performance and guidance
  • Undertake a program of investor engagement from proactive targeting of investors to execute a schedule of meetings via Zoom or in person.
  • Support in the oversight of our US ADR program and other relevant projects such as OwnWise.
  • Develop the Investor Relations website to keep it current, engaging and informative for investors and other stakeholders.
  • Explain share price movements to senior management as required, in addition to the creation of regular reports on market-related news and developments.
  • You’ll be using G suite and Slack, as well as CRM system Miraqle.

A bit about you:

  • This role will benefit from someone with +5 years experience in a capital markets related role such as investor relations, or from a finance function, especially from within the finance, tech or fin-tech sectors.
  • You are an adaptable self-starter – someone who can use their own initiative to keep things running at pace and won’t wait for answers
  • You don’t have to be a qualified accountant or financial analyst.  It helps, but a sound understanding and ability to explain financial statements is what we’re looking for.
  • You are resilient and curious by nature – you like flipping ambiguity, failures and set-backs in their head by actually using them as learning opportunities
  • Building relationships with colleagues, investors and analysts is an essential part of this role and demonstrable experience of developing strong and effective relationships are important.
  • Sharing information within Wise or to external stakeholders requires you to be accurate and detail oriented, great at finishing detailed jobs.
  • You are a confident communicator and influencer, comfortable talking to people of any level, whether it’s in person, on the phone or in writing. You understand how best to adapt your approach to your audience You are open to self-development, willing to gain experience, improve your skills and keen to learn new tricks
