Wise is one the fastest growing companies in Europe and we’re on a mission: to make money without borders the new normal. We’ve got 10 million customers across the globe and we’re growing. Fast.

Current banking systems don’t let us send, spend or receive money across borders easily. Or quickly. Or cheaply.

  • So, we’re building a new one.

Your Mission

Here at Wise we’re working to create a seamless IT experience by offering all the tools and permissions people need to do the best work they can, and simultaneously avoid being a speed hump. We have a highly mobile, geographically diverse work environment and currently we look after 20 offices of varying sizes.

We’re looking for an exceptional Lead for the Device Management domain within UT. As the name suggests the team looks after everything Device Management would logically entail, from issuing technical equipment (laptops and peripherals) to 1:1 troubleshooting, and end of life policies, to endpoint management, deployment and  security solutions, to maintaining hypervisors where needed in larger offices. It will be up to you to grow and evolve your domain, build a strong team ethic toward risk management and remedial actions, and work with other UT Leads to determine scope.

Here’s how you’ll be contributing:

  • Lead and scale Support and Engineering teams based in multiple locations that:
  • Build and improve our deployment, endpoint management and endpoint security infrastructure
  • Procure and support technology for our users, no matter where they are in the world
  • Create a long term strategy for Device Management that will see us through our relentless growth
  • Budget and forecast to ensure we meet the needs of our customers,  of Wise, and of our teams
  • Work cross-team to ensure we’re providing the best tech experience possible
  • Shoot for efficiency while maintaining a great working environment for your teams
  • Coach your leads to help them grow and expand your bandwidth
  • Foster a strong team culture that emphasises risk management, ownership, autonomy and accountability at a team level

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Work in a modern, cloud heavy environment with a highly mobile workforce, where fun and solving problems don’t need to be mutually exclusive
  • Choose your path to impact – we believe people are most empowered when they can act autonomously. So rather than telling you what to do, you’ll work with your teams to create a vision of your own. Of course, you can always gather feedback from smart, curious people across Wise but you’ll have the freedom to make your own calls
  • Grow as a leader – Build your team and inspire them to join our mission
  • Be part of our mission to make money without borders the new normal

About you:

  • You’re charismatic, empathetic, and have the ability to tailor communication to the audience – both to technical and non-technical people as needed. Effective communication between cross-team stakeholders, peers and leads is key
  • You care deeply about the success of your teams and how their contributions tie into the overall objectives of the organisation
  • You enjoy creating a fun and collaborative environment while driving for efficiency
  • You’re a creative thinker, solution oriented and challenge arbitrary decisions to avoid rubber stamping
  • You see the possibility to constructively challenge team plans and respond to challenges from other teams as an opportunity to achieve the best outcome

Must have skills:

  • Experience in both Mac and Windows environments
  • As a technical support specialist
  • As a domain / endpoint system administrator (devops not required)
  • As a lead
  • Experience with planning and budgeting, and able to take your team and any other interested party on that journey
  • The ability to provide / receive feedback, coach, set practical standards and hold your teams accountable
  • Autonomous by nature, able to take ownership of the Device Management domain and take advantage of the resources available to you
  • Good communicator, able to foster strong cross-team relationships both within and outside of your domain

Nice to have skills:

  • Experience in all phases of project management from project vision and scoping to  final delivery and close
  • Experience managing a Linux environment

What you get back:

  • Stock options in a growing company
  • An annual self-development budget
  • Pet friendly offices
  • Lots of fun group activities like yoga, running and boardgame nights
  • Relocation and visa expenses covered
  • A paid 6-week sabbatical leave after four years

We’re people without borders — without judgement or prejudice, too. We want to work with the best people, no matter their background. So if you’re passionate about learning new things and keen to join our mission, you’ll fit right in.

Also, where and what you studied isn’t important to us. If you’ve got great experience, the right skills for the role and you’re great at articulating your thinking, we’d like to hear from you.
