Senior Power Design Engineer – GPU Server Boards

Cowboy Space Corp. is building the infrastructure to power and connect the orbital economy. Our satellites operate in Low Earth Orbit to collect sunlight and enable a new class of capabilities—from powering on-orbit compute, to transmitting energy via infrared lasers (space-to-earth and space-to-space), powering on-orbit compute to delivering secure, high-bandwidth optical data. By rethinking how energy and data are generated and distributed in space, we’re unlocking entirely new ways to operate both in orbit and on Earth.

Founded in 2024 by Baiju Bhatt (co-founder of Robinhood), Cowboy Space Corp. is backed by leading investors and built by a team from top aerospace and defense organizations. We’re moving quickly to solve complex technical challenges and build a new category of space infrastructure.

The Role

As a Power Engineer in the Compute HW team, you will be responsible for the innovation and design of board-level DC-DC power conversion and input protection for GPU servers. This will require making trade-offs between performance, cost, reliability, and component availability. You will provide technical guidance and direction while troubleshooting complex power issues. You will drive resolution of issues with CAD, manufacturing, mechanical engineers, signal integrity and power integrity engineers in developing new boards, power supplies and power sub-systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and validate board power to meet the requirements of orbital deployment.

  • Develop and execute test plans for upcoming power designs and document procedures, plans, and specifications.

  • Assist in the resolution of power related issues in prototype, and manufacturing.

  • Collaborate with power supply vendors to develop power supplies that meet our requirements.

  • Perform design reviews of schematics, BOMs, layout and routing.

  • Extract VRM transient response models and integrates the models into end-to-end power integrity simulations

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in complex analog design DC-DC power conversion.

  • Schematic capture, PCB layout and circuit simulation tools experience.

  • Hands-on experience with system level power delivery network design, analysis and validation.

  • Familiarity with power distribution and strategies in PCBs and systems

  • Familiarity and fundamental understanding of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, electronic loads, and frequency response analyzers.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with enthusiastic cross-functional project teams.

  • Self-motivation - candidate should enjoy leading and taking ownership of assigned projects, exhibit good written and verbal communication skills, and can work well in a diverse team environment.

Why This Role Is Different

  • Own critical hardware systems, not just a small component

  • Fast iteration cycles with direct path from design to hardware testing

  • Work closely across disciplines in a tightly integrated team

  • High autonomy and ownership with real impact on the spacecraft

  • Opportunity to help define hardware systems for a new class of space infrastructure

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $150,000 - 200,000 annually. The actual base salary offered will depend on factors such as job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
