Georgia at SaaStr Europa

Georgia has been unbelievably supportive to me and my executive team - not just in giving advice, but in actually *doing the work* to help us build the right team and make the right strategic decisions.

Biography In Conversation

Georgia joined Index in 2019 and focuses on consumer and retail investments across Europe, with particular interest in marketplaces, consumer social & ecommerce infrastructure. Prior to joining, Georgia worked at Northzone where she focused on early stage opportunities across B2B and B2C sectors in the UK.

She started her career at Deliveroo, launching the business across towns and cities outside of London; on-boarding and managing restaurants as well as executing localised marketing campaigns. Georgia graduated from St John's College, Cambridge with a degree in History, followed by Management Studies at the Judge Business School.

What did you do at Deliveroo?

Georgia — I joined to launch the business across different towns and cities outside London. This involved lots of door-to-door sales in the rain (when restaurants are at their emptiest), performing after-hours sales pitches (when restaurants are prepared to listen to you) and making friends with all the waiting staff (when owners arrive, they'd give you a heads up). It was a very formative experience and a real lesson in the importance of execution, resilience, and the exhilaration of closing a sale.

What do you focus on at Index?

Georgia — I focus predominantly on UK & New York based businesses, with a particular skew towards marketplaces, retail infrastructure, future of work and consumer.

Name your proudest achievement.

Georgia — Coming second in Southern GB Under 9s Chess Championships and winning a full set Belgian chocolate chess board. It's really all been downhill since then.
