Why are you excited about vertical SaaS and technologies for small businesses?
Nina — Like many immigrants, my parents came to the U.S. from Iraq with nothing but their education and the spirit of entrepreneurship. I watched both my parents start businesses that still to this day run on pen, paper and sometimes Excel. While technology has advanced for large corporations, there are over 30 million small businesses in the U.S. that have been left in the stone age in terms of technology. Increasingly, these businesses - whether doctors, car mechanics, plumbers, restaurant owners or construction workers - are searching for software built for people like them, by people like them. I believe there is tremendous opportunity to build end-to-end, industry-specific solutions which empower mom and pop shops, the backbone of America.
Nina focuses on venture and growth investments in B2B SaaS. She is excited about the potential of vertical SaaS to help companies in legacy industries transition from using Excel and pen and paper workflows to adopting a more modern, end-to-end solution.
Previously, Nina was an FP&A Lead for Google’s AdSense team where she managed a multi-billion dollar book of business covering Amazon, IAC and eBay. Nina started her career as a high yield bond trader at Citigroup. She also started HIVE Ventures, the first seed venture fund focusing on Armenian entrepreneurs, where she invested in over 30 companies.
Nina graduated from Harvard University with a B.A. in government and is a recipient of the Michael C. Rockefeller Scholarship. Nina currently lives in San Francisco and enjoys watching football and Formula 1.
