Tebi’s mission is to help restaurants evolve their business. Today, most restaurant owners juggle 10+ different software subscriptions just to stay afloat. Tebi is evolving the space and bringing all the required tools to run your business into one elegant solution: Tebi OS.

Founded by Arnout Schuijff, co-founder of Adyen, and backed by a recent €20 million Series-A lead by Index Ventures, Tebi is rethinking restaurant tech from the ground up. By simplifying operations, we’re unlocking new levels of productivity and profitability, so restaurants can focus on what they do best: serving great food and creating memorable experiences.

About the role:

We’re looking for a Backend/Infrastructure Engineer to help us build the robust, high-performance systems that power Tebi OS behind the scenes.
You’ll focus on data-intensive backend services, system reliability, and infrastructure — making sure our foundation is as strong as the user experience is seamless.

This is a high-impact role where you’ll own critical parts of our backend stack, from designing scalable services to fine-tuning database performance.
If you’re excited about working with complex systems, love squeezing every drop of performance out of your code and infrastructure, and want to help modernize an underserved industry, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll need:

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a backend engineer
  • Strong experience with Java or, ideally, Kotlin for backend development
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining complex, data-intensive systems. You take reliability and performance extremely seriously.
  • Hands-on experience with Kafka setup, operations, and maintenance
  • A product mindset—you care not just about technical purity but about building systems that scale gracefully as the product grows

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain backend services with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performance
  • Manage Kafka setup, configuration, and maintenance to ensure robust real-time data pipelines
  • Postgres monitoring and maintenance knowledge including query optimization
  • Ensure system reliability through monitoring, alerting, and performance improvements
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and design teams to ship resilient and scalable features
  • Contribute to evolving our cloud infrastructure

Nice to have:

  • GCP knowledge
  • Clickhouse setup & maintenance knowledge
